Pinspiration: Layers upon layers upon layers

Wednesday, October 16, 2013

Man alive, I haven't done one of these in a while. And seeing as there are no wishlist items today, I thought I would talk about what's inspiring me on Pinterest. Ya dig? Ah yeah.

LAYERS!
(all photos are courtesy of pinterest and the links that they direct you to...I don't own any of them.)
The key to layering this fall. An oversized, perfectly plaid, perfectly flannel shirt, with the sleeves cuffed just right. Put an anorak, denim jacket, lazy day cardi, or a chunky scarf, perhaps a hat? You're gold, my friends. Pure gold. Photo Source

Caroline de Maigret for Madewell was the best decision that store ever made. Her effortless, Parisian chic-ness is killing me. Get your chunky sweater, get your denim jacket, layer it up. Call it good. Photo source.
Hold the phone. This woman is so impeccably bundled up it gives me the chills. See what I did there? Photo source.

Most people on campus would call this hipster, but I call this the best. The best comfy, lazy day outfit ever put together. Photo source.

This outfit. I shall recreate it. Photo source.

Summer layers can be transitioned to fall and winter. Add some leggins or some tights and a sexy pair of boots to go with that sexy slit and that's all you need. Maybe a scarf. Even a hat. Photo source.

Aw man. Beyond good.  Photo source.

Hey, Natalie Jean. I like your style. Photo source.

This isn't much of a layered look, but it COULD be a black dress with a sweater over it and that's, in my opinion, some of the best kind of layering. Photo Source.

I told Ty that we should go to a pumpkin patch, just so I can wear something like this. It's pumpkin patch perfect. Yeah...I'm on the weirdest role. Photo source.

Add tights and a scarf! I'll keep saying it. Gimme them Hunters now! Photo source.
As Tom-Boy chic as Tom-Boy chic gets. Photo source.
The moodiest. The layeriest.  Also possible for recreation. Photo source.

I always have the hardest time figuring out how to wear skirts in the winter. Put on some boots with that long skirt, add a cardigan or sweater and a hat and scarf and really it's the loveliest. And straight out of Europe I think. Photo source, unknown.
What has been inspiring you lately? Today I saw this girl on campus with the most perfect sweater and chino skinnies and gold metallic oxfords. I die. Stay gold.

Thai Chicken Pizza is the Best Creation on this Planet

Friday, January 11, 2013

Friday Favorites! I'm quite surprised that I am even typing this. I haven't posted one of these in a while. Fridays are freedom days, but today as I sit with a full belly (full of Thai chicken pizza) and smelling like a pizza joint, I am going to write a Friday Favorites. There have been plenty of favorites even with it being the first week of the semester.

So the first...
What's in my stomach digesting right now? Thai Chicken Pizza from SLAB right down the street. There is no pizza greater or tastier. I mean if you like exotic flavors and spicy peanut sauce. It's delicious. I didn't snap a picture, because honestly, if I'm super hungry I'll just cut to the chase and take a huge bite. So if you're in the Provo area and want a slightly expensive but totally worth it slice of goodness, check out SLAB. I recommend the Hawaiian (though I say you should get a Premium slice to get the whole Slab experience), BBQ Chicken, Rosemary Potato and Bacon, and of course the Thai.

2. SNOW! I feel like I mention this a ton on here, but I just love snow so much, and northern Utah got buckets of it last night. Provo got a nice blanket. I can only hope for more.

3. Come to Jesus talks from your dad. They are always what I need. Every single time. Thank you, Daddy-O.

4. Making important decisions. Decisions that can change your life. Trusting your heart and trusting the Lord. That's all you can do.

5. Soft, somewhat sappy, lovely wedding music. I am pretty tempted to make a wedding song list on Spotify.

6. Lemon Poppyseed Muffins. Delicious, I say.

7. Sincere talks with the most unlikely friend. That moment when they are completely serious with you and they tell you what you need to hear. Thos moments are rare because they usually are extremely sarcastic about everything. BUT their words are comforting and you just want to give them the biggest hug because you think they are quite possibly the most wise person on the Earth at that moment.

And last but not least...

 8. Dreams by Fleetwood Mac

Right up there on the favorite song list with Beth/Rest.

What were your favorite moments of the week? Care to share? Have a lovely and safe weekend, friends. Stay gold.

Wishlist Wednesday: 5 Things I'm Wishing/Grateful For

Wednesday, November 21, 2012

1. Glitter T-Strap Ballet Flats

J. Crew
Although I'm wishing for these, I am grateful for the shoes I do have. For the blessing it is to be able to go get a new pair when there are holes in the soles of others. Heck, to be able to go get a new pair when I don't actually need a new pair. I'm grateful that I have something to cover my feet on these cold winter days.

2. Polka-Dot Snood

J. Crew
I'm grateful for scarves that can add the perfect amount of warmth on those extra brisk days. When I was little, scarves literally saved me from getting horrible coughs. Or...my mom drilled it in me to wear scarves because they "would keep me from getting sick" that I just thought that.

3.  Giant Bow Sweater

J. Crew
Oh yes, the article of clothing that makes up most of my Fall/Winter wardrobe. The sweater. Boy, am I grateful for these or what? There's nothing better than sweater weather.

4.  Majesty Peacoat and Stadium-cloth Boulevard Trench

Isn't it a blessing to have a warm coat? To be able to put something on to shield you from the cold?

And just because I think it's cute....

5. Floral Text Top by Oysho

Oysho
This may sound silly, but I'm grateful for adorable things. I'm grateful that there are beautiful things to look and pretty things to discover. It's okay to be grateful for material things...as long as you really know what to be truly grateful for. The spiritual things, the things of the heart.

What are you grateful for?

Happy Thanksgiving Eve!
