Friday Favorites // Something about a keyboard...

Friday, May 30, 2014

p h o t o

I'm writing this on my work break...on a desktop keyboard. Man, it's awesome. The keys click ever so nicely. Nicer than my laptop keyboard, that's just soft clicks, these are clacky, intense, what I'm writing is really important clicks. Rad, I say. So here are some favorites. My inspiration is flowing. The weekend is here. I hope it's a magical one. Tyler and I are going to take some time to rest and relax from all of the catch-up we've been doing since California. Plus a bad test score and anxious minds need some TLC that can only be remedied by shopping, dollar theater, and food. What are you doing? Sound off!

1 // Bedazzled sandals!

2 // Do I really need to have these mastered by the time I'm 30? How about by the time I die? Yeah that's fine by me.

3 // For all you weekend sale shoppers. The Do's and Don'ts of Shopping a Sale.

4 // The perfect summer sweatshirt.

5 // Oh and it comes in so many more options!

6 // Yes, you so are.

7 // You are cared about!

8 // The perfect outfit.

9 // GUYS, WALLPAPER! *faints from the beauty*

10 // Currently reading this beauty...

11 // Ty, Jake, Anna, and I literally watched the bee with bated breath. Amazing.

12 // Okay, I am crying. I needed this so much. No matter what size, shape, or color. You are beautiful.

13 // #YesAllWomen because every guy I dated in college (with the exception of my husband) couldn't swallow the fact that I really wanted to "just be friends."

Friday Favorites // I'm a sucker...

Friday, May 16, 2014

p h o t o

For young high school kids on sports teams that go door to door selling those silly little coupon books that are like too overpriced but always seem like the best deal. Yeah. I'm the biggest sucker, but actually I bought one for 10 bucks yesterday and let me tell you...it already paid itself off in Pretzels and Sub Zero ice cream. One can never have enough of those two tasty delights. Anyway, on to the weekend links. What are you doing this weekend? Ty and I are going to a Real Salt Lake soccer game and my parents are running a half marathon. Comment below, let's talk about each other's plans!

1 // This isn't a link, but it is a favorite. It being the photo for this post. For a long time I was treated like crap by people that felt like crap. Just recently, I was able to send one of those people off with peace. I was able to really let go of it all, because I had a realization of my blessings. I can be so silly sometimes, but I saw it and boy am I grateful that I did.

2 //  Oh yes, I have done ALL of these.

3 // More Met Gala goodness, Humans of New York style.

4 // Because we all love that student discount!

5 // I think I need to keep this in mind more often.

6 // Breakfast pizza? Yum!

7 // A beautiful piece of art.

8 //  Awwwwww!

9 // If you love street style, you will love this tumblr.

10 // Also, love her blog, and this post. It's SO real.

11 // Such dreamy house inspiration.

12 // Guys...you just need to watch this show. Just do it. It's so effing good.

13 // Lastly, WE ARE GOING TO....

Friday Favorites //

Friday, May 2, 2014

p h o t o

Oh dear, Friday's here again. The weeks fly by. The days roll on, and here we are another weekend. It's refreshing and welcomed, but I'm seriously loving the Spring and I want it to last forever. Come on, Spring don't go so fast. Stay a while. Pull up a chair, sip some lemonade, let's be friends.

Tyler and I went on  a hike yesterday with some friends. There was a moment where the clouds and the sky were like this picture. The mountains were bordering them ever so beautifully. Nature is killer, man.

1 //  Northbound Candles. Check these beauties out. If you are a sucker for candles, these must be added to your list. My beautiful friend, Talor makes each and every one. Isn't that the prettiest hobby ever? They have a blog, Instagram, etsy shop, Pinterest, and Facebook page

I love the Dreaming of Honeysuckle and Perfectly Peachy candle. They smell so lovely and Tyler really likes them.

2 // Karly Jade Illustrations. Another beautiful friend with a pretty hobby. Karly speaks to my soul. Her illustrations tell stories. They pierce your heart and make you feel happy. They remind you of moments in your life and they make you love humanity. Send love her way by checking out her blog, tumblr, Facebook page, and Pinterest

3 //  Tyler and I are trying the same thing!

5 // Deliciously simple and easy French bread rolls you will never want to stop making.

6 //  Gals, fashion mistakes are okay, and we all commit them and you know what, sometimes we don't want to change them. And that's okay. But read this funny post anyway. It made me smile.

7 // A great snippet of BJ Novak's book of short stories. I'm currently, absolutely, incessantly obsessed with it. It's perfect.

9 // Oh Utah.

10 // This movie looks unbelievably beautiful and interesting and profound.

Friday Favorites // Spring Break

Monday, April 28, 2014

p h o t o

Well, not really. We don't have a Spring Break at the Y...but we are in-between terms and I'm only working in the Spring and Summer so I might as well get my Spring break on. Tonight, Ty and I are hitting up a graduation party BBQ. Then this weekend will probably consist of long-awaited SLAB pizza and the Aquarium (eek!). What are you up to?

1 // Try to be kinder, graduates!

2 // This house!

3 // I got a Daisy...and I was the happiest girl around.

4 // Um..yum!

5 //  9 basics that you can dress up or down.

6 //  Have steak in your fridge and don't know how to marinade it? Well this marinade is for you.

7 //  This is the greatest thing in my closet.

8 //  Pretty blouse for Spring.

9 // I could wear these every single day.

10 // And one more item on my wish list.

11 // Oh this sleeping area is so cozy and lovely.

12 // Don't you just love the weekend?

13 // So true.

Friday Favorites: Get Colorful This Weekend

Friday, March 28, 2014

p h o t o
Here's your goal for the weekend. Get colorful. For those in Utah County, the Festival of Colors is happening TOMORROW! Holi, a celebration of color. You will literally get colorful, with gunk up your nose and your ears. Super great. An alternative? Paint a picture, go to Color Me Mine, write some thank you notes, smile, laugh, watch an artsy movie. Tyler and I are going to a friend's baby shower, renting a puppy, and then hitting up Holi Krishna. It's going to be wonderful and lots of fun.

Friday Favorites: Because we all know that we want that Anthropologie dress...

Saturday, March 1, 2014

And the candles. Oh man...I lusted after Volcano for SO long, but how could I even justify buying a $28 in the most beautiful jar? I couldn't. So what did I do? I waited. I waited and my patience was rewarded because I got one from my roommate for a wedding present. Of course, she's a gem, I tell you.

Speaking of weddings. Tyler and I reached our two months yesterday. Hey Ty, I know you're reading this so here are two pictures that make up my feelings for these two month.

p h o t o
p h o t o
So what are your plans for the weekend? Tyler and I are going to an Oscar viewing party, we are even filling out ballots. I'm super partial to Jennifer Lawrence and Captain Phillips, but I have a feeling Gravity and 12 Years a Slave are going to sweep it. I don't know. You never know, muchachos...American Hustle could make it...which would make me so happy. Are you so mad Tom Hanks didn't get any love? And the original song nominations kind of miff me. Don't get me wrong, I love "Let It Go" but "I See Fire" and "Fare Thee Well" deserved something big time. Anyway, Oscars mini rant done. We also have to go grocery shopping really bad. Oh and homework. Homework has to be done. You know the drill.

Anyway, enjoy the favorites.

1. After a long hiatus Beck is back with a new album. You'll love it, I promise.

2. And if you are looking for some weekend jams? Look no further than Bastille's album Bad Blood.

3. A hilarious commentary on Anthropologie. Like, it's beyond true, and you ALL know it.

4. Are you going to be all over the sneaker trend? I sure am.

5. Do you suffer from any of these?

6. And my favorite sneaker of all...

7. LC, represent!

8. I might have shared this before, but I love it so much that it can be shared again. Perfect for Oscar season anyway!

9. Bring back the Olympics! Bring them back! Bring them back!

10. Trying this next I make a turkey sandwich.

11. I cannot get enough of Lupita Nyong'o. She is the epitome of style, class, grace, wisdom, AND inspiration.

12. Ty and I JUST made these. So delicious. Make sure you have 1-2 hours to spare...they are worth it, I promise.

13. Celebrities with ink?! Wow!

Honorable mention: Orange cuties. Orange as can be.

Friday Favorites: Let's Go to Space

Friday, February 21, 2014

p h o t o c r e d

What are your plans this weekend? Tyler and I have lots of homework, but we have a movie night, dinner, and some fun errands planned. The lives of married college students. Soooo radical. To be honest, we'll probably watch Friday Night Lights while folding laundry. That's the solid truth. No shame. No shame.

Let me know what you're doing and enjoy the favorites.

1. If you live in Utah, you can go to space. A la Star Trek. Believe me, it's a total blast.

1. Not a link, but a moment. This weekend. I had a wonderful and wet drive up to Ogden on Friday morning. Ready to go get my dress fitted and to be blessed with the kind words of my mother and the wisdom of my father. On the way I got to stop for a visit at a new shopping center in Farmington. The snow was dropping so nicely and I made sure to turn on FM 100.3 because Christmas could be felt in the air. Then Tyler came later that night and we enjoyed today eating Chinese food, searching for the perfect eye shadow, eating more food, laughing at funny videos and old stories, and staying snowed in, because it was like a blizzard today. We were supposed to go back to Provo, but why go back when you don't need to and when you can stay cozy in your home? Plus, Tyler is suffering from some pretty bad PTSD after two car accidents, (I'm fine in the snow) so I felt like it would be best if we didn't stress his Southern California bones out. (Sensitivity and lack of jokes or criticism is the best way to combat this.) No one deserves that after a wonderful and relaxing weekend. And so. Tomorrow we make our way home. Rain or snow. I think we will be okay.

2. I was featured!

3. Powerful. Heartbreaking, but incredibly powerful.

4. Eleanorisms. SO darling! I wanna be naked too E, I wanna be naked too.

5. The most perfect sweatshirt dress.  I say most perfect, but really...the price makes it slightly less than. I tried this on the other day. So flattering. So comfortable. So warm. And perfect with opaque tights and booties.

6. NAKED 3!?!?!

7. Just picked up Naked Basics.

8. Syvende

9. California lovin'.

10. The only thing I asked for for Christmas this year. Besides my wedding. For our new home.

11. Um, yum!

12. This look.

13.  Really into these kicks right now.

Sorry this was late. I hope you are having a lovely weekend. Stay warm. Stay safe. Stay gold.

Friday Favorites on a Saturday

Saturday, November 2, 2013

1. Maggie Sottero

2. For the Home.

3. Ei-O!

4. Bastille Goes Miley!

10.  Dreamy ankle straps.

11. *Drool*

12. I wasn't a veil girl, but now I am.

13.  Not a link, but yesterday I realized something...as a soon to be bride, I have gotten caught up in doing things that people expect me to do. Planning a wedding around other people and not myself or Tyler. Yesterday I realized that I really had to stop doing that. I had to stop selling my wedding short. I had to stop worrying about what everyone else thought. I had to stop worrying what everyone thought about my dress and if I changed up my aesthetic a bit. It's my wedding...and I really don't care if you don't like it. Or if you think everyone has my dress or if it's not what I originally wanted. It's my perfectly special day. It's my sealing and that is the most important part. It is going to be perfect and beautiful to me and that is what matters. Is anyone else with me on this?

A favorite or two.

Friday, July 19, 2013

First of all, I need to get this favorite out of the way or I'll simply explode. WORLD WAR Z! Let's. Get. Real. I don't know why this wasn't mentioned in a favorites before, oh I know why, it's because I haven't written one of these buggers in like 50 years. Anyway yes, World War Z is making it to number 1 on this favorites list. Let me start this far too long paragraph on why I loved that movie so much. So Super Ty and I have seen about 7 movies in theatres together, let me list them all. The Great Gatsby, Iron Man 3, Man of Steel, After Earth, Despicable Me 2, Pacific Rim, and the best one of them all World War Z. Being the cheap college students that we are, we have to hear extremely awesome reviews or have previous history with the title of the film to actually pay the full 6-10 dollars for a ticket. Great Gatsby made us too depressed and pseudo-trippy. Iron Man 3 was front row and Tyler HAD to see it. Man of Steel was a villain throwing a tantrum and buildings dying. After Earth (a dollar theatre find, so I shouldn't complain too much) was Will Smith at his worst. Despicable Me 2 was funny, adorable, but our eyes were far too droopy to enjoy it to the fullest. Pacific Rim, we were soooo incredibly excited for because we heard amazing things about the show and then...wah-wiggidy-wah. Those Kaiju whatever the ef those were...too big and WAY TOO LOUD. Plus the acting? Yeah, no.

Well then what about World War Z. Oh Brad Pitt. Oh World War Z. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Thank you for being the redeeming quality for summer movies, because the heavens surely know that this summer has royally flopped when it has come to going to the theatre. World War Z had a great cast, great acting, great cinematography, great music, great lighting, but most of all...the STORY WAS INCREDIBLE and great it was great too. Zombie apocalypse? Yeah. So good. The intensity and intelligence of that film makes me want to go watch it again. Right now. There were so many jumpy moments but also moments where you could sit and think...wow Brad Pitt is such a BA family guy, I like his grungy cool hippy dad look...Or you could be completely seriously thinking, how the hell are they going to get away from those creepy things, or what's in Wing-B? Or holy crap there is a zombie in that dark alley and on that airplane. And what is the cure? What is it? How are they going to stop this insanity!?! Seriously guys, go watch it. No regrets if you do, I promise. Cross my heart.

Second, The Last of Us. Staying on that zombie craze, Tyler bought this game a while ago and I have been watching him play. It reminds me of when I would watch Frankie and Spencer play Final Fantasy when I was little. It's like watching a movie. Joel and Ellie on an adventure to get to the Fireflys and avoid salty bandits, creepy zombies, blind zombies called clickers, and the infamous bloaters that I haven't encountered yet. It's a joy ride. Tyler's roommates get into it too. Call us nerdy, lazy college students. We don't care. P.S. we don't even play longer than an hour at most. We're cool like that.

Third, Mom, Krystal, and Grandma came for a visit yesterday and we gorged on SLAB Pizza. I don't even need to say anything more because it's pretty self explanatory.

Fourth, actually I do. We took a little trip to Traverse Mountain Outlets with them and Tyler bought two shirts (this is huge guys, this kid never buys new clothes that aren't from family thrift shoppe or DI) and I might have gotten two things from a clearance section but that doesn't even matter. The prices were killing it. For reals.

Fifth, and lastly, I want to leave you with a favorite song of the week. Furr by Blitzen Trapper. The beauty of this song can't be beat.

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to escape the pungent smell of menudo coming from the lunch being eaten behind me.

Have a safe and beautiful weekend, friends.

Stay gold.

P.S. Have you heard Vampire Weekend's Blurred Lines cover on BBC Radio? I can't even.

I am Friday. I must become Friday. Friday is my friend.

Friday, June 7, 2013

That's what I've been telling myself ALL week. It has been one of those weeks where you want to eat nothing but junk (which I have) do nothing but sleep (almost there) and talk to no one (which didn't happen, because when in Provo, it's impossible to avoid humanity). But now it's over and there were still some favorite-worthy things that happened. So let's get to it, before I get bored and start doing something else with my time.

1.The kid resting on my shoulder right at this moment. Is it too soon to be sappy about this kind of thing? Maybe? Do I give a? No.

2. Third Physical Science test finished.

3. In-N-Out. Double double? Ay bay bay.

4. Crusty the sweater. And when I say crusty...I mean crustacean.

5. Kevin and Rachael Abbott and their littlest of littles.

6. Kiwanis park shenanigans and shady business. You would not believe the things that go down there past 10 o clock. The witching hour. It got real REAL down there.

7. Watching EFY kids. I love those snot nosed acne farms. It's the greatest thing to witness. We found the 15 year old versions of all our friends among the throngs of COWs, BFs, and GFs. Greatness I tell you. Pure greatness.

8. Feeling the happiest you have been in a long time.

Best.

Have a lovely weekend friends! Stay gold.

Things I've decided...

Tuesday, May 21, 2013
