People as good as spring...

I woke up this morning and was greeted by snow. My first reaction, pure fury. I was settled on having a grumptastic day. A grumptastic day consisted of me watching March Madness, crying because Kansas State is losing, reblogging every picture of a tree on tumblr, and pinning all the things on pinterest. Tumblr had a better idea. Or Ernest Hemingway did anyway. The first post I saw was this beauty.

Well today we definitely got a false spring and it showed. Everyone was in grumpsville on campus today. I didn't see one smile and I don't think I gave any. Ernest Hemingway had a point when he said that people are limiters of happiness. We are. I don't want to be a limiter of happiness. I want to be happiness. I want to be as good as spring itself. So even if the sky is crying snow, let's be spring. Let's remember that Utah needs the water in the mountains, let's remember that spring will bloom. We just need to help it along.

On another note, a solemn and celebratory one, Chinua Achebe passed away today at the age of 82. A literary giant (straight up baller), Chinua Achebe wrote one of the best novels in the history of time. Things Fall Apart taught me about culture and change and life. It taught me that we are all tragic heroes at a time. We must overcome our inner battles. We must learn from the tragic story of Okonkwo. We must rise above. I celebrate his work and mourn that another great writer has left this Earth. God bless, Chinua Achebe.

P.S. I got my first 8 on an AP Lit essay analyzing Things Fall Apart so naturally it would have my heart.

So those are my favorites today. What favorites do you have? What are you plans for the weekend?
Stay safe, stay happy, and stay gold.
