Wishlist Wednesday: The Beginnings of Summer

Wednesday, June 6, 2012

So the Summer Solstice isn't until June 21st, but that doesn't mean summer weather waits. Well, unless you live in Utah, then you have 60 degree weather after a day of 90 degree weather. It happens, but when it gets hot, let me tell you...it gets hot. So bring on the summer wishlists! Be ready for a lot of color and a lot of fun things.

Currently, I am on the hunt for a new swimsuit and some brighter pieces for the summer. Here are some pieces that have been an inspiration to me. If you guys have any idea where I could find some great but less expensive alternatives. Let me know! Also, make sure to comment below with some things that you have been wishing for.

Welcome summer!!

J.Crew
J.Crew

I love the styles and patterns on these two swimsuits. Polka dots and poppies. Two of my favorite things. The only problem is that I was reading some reviews on J.Crew swimsuits, and they all said that they are definitely flimsy and revealing. They used the term "fripples" you can figure it out. That's the last thing I want.  If any of you have heard different let me know. Also if you know of places that sell this style of swimsuit that is very good quality let me know about that. I just want a cute, flattering, and good quality swimsuit. Is that too much to ask for?
The Gap: Shorts/Hoodie
I am obsessed with the neon trend this Spring/Summer. If I could own every neon pair of pants and shorts I would. I know a lot of people say that you won't be able to wear them after the trend is over, but heck I will. I will rock my neon coral pants and mint green ones forever. You can wear them with anything...if that's your style. It's mine so I think they were a great addition to my wardrobe. Anyway, I love the neon yellow shorts. There are also a pink pair that I think are amazing, but I think the yellow is just cute and really unique. I have seen a lot of pink shorts but not a lot of yellow ones.

Now I included the hoodie because I think it would just be a great thing to wear on a cooler summer day or on a cool summer night. It is a bright and fun color, but it is such a simple piece that it can be thrown on with any casual outfit. I think gap styles everything so well, so I would definitely wear the outfit that it shows in the picture. (With longer shorts of course ;) )

Anthropologie

Every once and a while, I browse the Anthropologie website. Every once and a while...actually all the time I see something that I love. This...this dress is perfect. I love it SO much. It's sold out and I'm sad. Maybe not so much because it's sold out, but because it was $89.95. Sigh...I need to learn how to sew ASAP. And I should probably stop wishing for expensive things. Even if I saved the money, I don't think I would spend that much for a dress when it could be made. Bright and colorful dresses for summer are the best. They are easy to style and wear. They keep you cool. They look cute. They are amazing.

Michael Kors

I already have a Michael Kors watch that I got for Christmas last year. I love it so much and don't need a new one anytime soon, but I saw this on a girls wrist. I know I'm slightly creepy...and I just loved it so much that I had to go try it on at the Michael Kors store at City Creek. I did try it on and I really loved it. Something funny happened though, the sales associate saw the watch I have and she asked if she could try it on. So we traded watches and instead of trying to get me to buy the one I was trying on, she just kept going on about how much she loved the one I already have. It was really kind of her. She even called over another sales associate over to look at it. She asked me where I got it. It was super sweet and awesome of her. They don't sell it anymore though...so I hope she finds one that she likes just as much. I love people who make you feel great. Although I don't need it and won't be getting it any time soon, I love this watch because I think the white and rose gold compliment each other. It's a pretty and great summer accessory.
Modcloth
Modcloth

These two Modcloth pieces really make me realize that I have to stop liking expensive things... I see the prices of both and I just want to cry a little bit. I guess that's why these posts are called "Wishlists". I could only wish. Haha. Red is one of my favorite colors and I think this bag is just so bold and brilliant. It's an amazing pop of color. It's unique and it's so darn cute. I am a sucker for red patented leather.

Now the shoes. CRAZY right? You may be thinking...those would not be cute on anyone, but just click the link. You will see how beautiful and proportioned they are. They look amazing on. I think so anyway. Gosh I love them. I love the big bow, the heel. They are so cute...a girl can dream. Sure you can't wear them with everything but they can sure add the best statement to a simple dress, skirt, or pair of pants. Modcloth...you kill me.

Well that's about all for today. Make sure to comment below with cheaper alternatives, styling ideas, items on your wishlist. I love hearing from you guys. Have a wonderful Wednesday. Stay cool. Be safe, and come back tomorrow for a playlist.

  1. Dani, I heard Tommy Hilfiger swimsuits are made better and are cheaper. I know they are cheaper than the one I bought at Dillards so they might be worth looking at.

  2. Oooo thanks for the tip! I will check them out! Megan do you like your one from Dillards? Do you mind telling me what brand? I got one from Coco Rave last week and I had to return it because it faded after the first use. Like...not a normal like a terrible completely altering the color fade. Now I am in a rut with the swimsuit thing. BUT yes I will look at Tommy Hilfiger. Thanks again. Sorry I am rambling.

    1. I love the one I got from Dillards. It was a little more expensive, but it was worth it. It is a Ralph Lauren. Good luck on your hunt. I hate swimsuit shopping.

  4. EVERYTHING AT ANTHROPOLOGIE IS ON MY WISH LIST.
I, too, have been cursed with expensive taste in style. But uh, as for knowing cheaper alternatives....I have none. I only know the rich people way! LOVE the J. Crew blue swimsuit. To die for.
On my wish list..... I *would* say a boyfriend, but I am not the hugest fan of the menfolk right now. But this is fine. Uh. I think I want a never-ending supply of grapes, though. Red grapes. Welch's seedless red grapes. Yeah.
P.S., those shoes are THE SHIZ. Love 'em. You have such a beautiful, unique taste that is quite refreshing.
