Friday Favorites: I have the BEST mom in the WORLD!

Friday, August 3, 2012

Today, I am feeling better than I have this WHOLE week. Like I feel like I didn't even get my teeth yanked out of my face on Tuesday. I have some gnarly and rather itchy bruises on my face, but hey I feel great and that's what matters.

I've got some favorites to share this fine Friday. You would be surprised how being an invalid for a couple of days makes you appreciate things in your life. For example...

Favorite #1: Water

I know it's water. Water is everywhere! But I am sure grateful for it. It is all that I have been drinking this week. Ice cold water. It is the only thing that could make my mouth actually feel good. It is refreshing and I have noticed a great improvement in my skin from drinking it. If in doubt, just get a nice, tall glass of ice cold water.

Favorite #2: Sherbet Shakes/Chocolate Shakes

I really dislike the fact that I can't eat solid foods. I can't take a huge bite of a sandwich, hamburger, piece of cake...etc. Everything has to be chopped into teeny tiny pieces, and there is something sooooo not satisfactory from eating something with just your front teeth. You can't enjoy your food and a liquid diet is less than ideal. Really. You try it. Not fun. So to spice up my diet, my mom has been treating me to sherbet shakes. Last night, she got me a chocolate shake which I had been craving like none other. They really hit the spot when you're tired of popsicles, chicken broth, and pudding.

Sherbet Shake, just add some Sprite to your sherbet. This was great because it also calmed the nausea I would get from the medication.

The most delicious chocolate shake on this planet...well not really but I thought it was at the moment.
Favorite #3: Medication

Despite the fact that the medication made me so nauseous and extremely groggy, it was a favorite. It took away the pain, prevented infection, and brought down swelling. So yes, it had to be a favorite.

Favorite #4: Peeta

And by Peeta, I mean my Peeta blanket. I LOVE MY PEETA BLANKET. Thank you Emilee for the best present on the planet. I would get feverish from the medication and that blanket was always to the rescue. I wouldn't be able to get to sleep without that blanket. I know that sounds so weird but it's true. I felt like Katniss in the cave this entire week. I love you Peeta.

Favorite #5: Gabby Douglas

I have been rooting for this girl from the very beginning. When I was watching her at the Olympic Trials, I knew she was going to go gold or go home. This girl is golden. She deserved that Gold medal. She broke barriers. She did it. She is an inspiration. She brought tears to my eyes last night. Way to go girl! I knew she could do it. Golden I tell you. Golden.

Look at that smile! With every dismount, you just knew she had it.
Favorite #6 MY MOM, Lys

What would I do without her? Really though, what would I do?  She has been my life saver this whole week. Well actually my whole life. I love my mom so much. She is the best. She is the best nurse. She is so caring and she really knows how to make you feel better. She was there every morning when I felt so sick from the Lortab. She was there with water, medicine, a blanket, a hug, comfort. I love my mom so much. Thank you, Mom. I love you to the moon and back. I mean it.  I really can't express how grateful and blessed I am to have a mom like her. I pray one day I can give back all that she has given me.

Well that's all for today folks. What have been your favorites this week? What are your plans for the weekend? I plan to relax and recover some more.

Make sure to let me know about your favorites and enjoy this puffy face picture of me.

Happy Friday friends!

How cute.
