Playlist Thursday: Some favorites

Friday, February 21, 2014

This week I have been listening to a few new things but mostly the oldie but goodie ones that I've discovered throughout my three college years.

Do you have those songs? The ones that remind you of moments. A few of these songs remind me of summer. First love. New friends. And my old apartment at SingleTree. Feel free to share some songs that do nostalgia for you.

Happy listening.

1. Hiding Out by Sucre

This reminds me SO much for my friend Karly Catto. She is currently serving a mission in Washington, and I miss her quite terribly. This came up on my shuffle and I freaked a little. I was reminded of its absolute beauty. Sucre has the voice of dreams. Just listening to this song reminds me of Karly's profound wisdom and kindness. God bless you, Sister Catto!

2. If Only I by Jon Mclaughlin

I heard this on the Vampires Diaries like so long ago and I was hooked.

3. Sun by Sleeping at Last

The beauty.  I can't even.

4. Mercury by Sleeping at Last

5. Call Your Girlfriend by Robyn

This is on my ultimate playlist, because it is ULTIMATE. It really is. The music video. The beats. The dance. Robyn. All of it. Like this song epitomized my sophomore year of college.

6. God Made Man by Young the Giant

7. Cough Syrup by Young the Giant

8. My Blood by Ellie Goulding

9. I See Fire by Ed Sheeran

I know, it's The Hobbit song...but guys. OH my gosh. Ed Sheeran. His voice melts me. I have to get "+". Why haven't I done that yet?

10. Heart Attack by Demi Lovato

#GirlPower

11. A Life That's Good by Lennon and Maisy

If I am having a bad day, I will listen to this song and everything feels alright.

12. Shot at the Night by The Killers

This is my newest favorite. It's always in my head.

Fleet Foxes with blue spotted tails, flying miles, and not saying words...

Thursday, January 10, 2013

I will be back soon with Wishlist Wednesday posts, I am trying to revamp the way I write them. I am thinking about using my Polyvore account more, and I am also considering doing more specific/themed posts. For now, if you have any suggestions or ideas for me about those posts, please comment below, or send me a quick message. Don't be shy. Today, just enjoy some tunes.

1. Blue Spotted Tail by Fleet Foxes

"Why in the night sky are the lights hung? Why is the earth moving round the sun?"

Apparently, Kina Grannis has a cover. I definitely need to check that one out. Holler for Kina Grannis. Also, who else thinks that Fleet Foxes is appropriate for every occasion? I do.

2. Don't Say a Word by Ellie Goulding

"And if I save us, and I fall down, I will leave your words behind now...If you never, held me under, if you never hear my thunder."

If you have not listened to her new album Halcyon, I don't know what you are doing.

3. The Mile by Stu Larsen

"I had never seen the snow, never sailed upon the seas.
I was busy making plans to build a fortress in the trees.  I’d ride my bicycle down the lane and back again.
Talking to the birds and my imaginary friends.
And I would want to run away, go as far as I could see.
But I’d always turn around to find familiarity, right where it should be..
I’ll be gone, running on the mile..
Oh my love, is there hope for yesterday?
'Cause I’m following my heart, and it’s taking me away.
Now I am moving on, I do not know where I will go.
But I’m beckoned by the sky in the river down below.
I’ve only got one pair of shoes, comforting these weary feet.
'Cause a man who owns too much is like a song without a beat, left feeling incomplete..
I’ll be gone, running on the mile.."

The link I provided is not the best. (Stop listening at 5:14)  I wasn't able to find another recording, but this just proves that he is perfect live. Stu Larsen was a tumblr find. Let's take a moment to thank tumblr for the music we find. Please go listen to this on Spotify.

What are you listening to?

Playlist Thursday: Are you still listening?

Thursday, December 27, 2012

Are you still listening to Christmas music? Am I a bad person for stopping right when the 26th comes around? I would imagine because I played my Christmas playlist on Spotify ALL-DAY on Christmas. If you were trying to eat breakfast in silence, you couldn't because Michael Buble was belting his pipes in the background. If you wanted to read a book, you had to be able to read with Mariah Carey's "All I want for Christmas is You" playing ever so softly. I mean it was great but by the end of the day I was ready for some other stuff. So I have a playlist for you, with new music, can you believe it? So be ready to listen to some awesome tunes.

1. My Blood by Ellie Goulding

"And God knows, I'm not dying but I breathe now. And God knows, it's the only way to heal now. With all the blood I lost with you. It drowns the love I thought I knew."

Her new album Halcyon is pretty darn fantastic. It's a superb sophomore album that EVERYONE should check out. It always makes me happy when an artist makes a better album than his/her first. This song is my favorite from the album. It's haunting and beautiful.

2. I Know You Care by Ellie Goulding

"I use to run down the stairs, to the door, and I thought you were there to shape to the comfort of us. Two lovers loved out of love."

Be ready to cry. Or get all choked up. Or something. Also, I want to see the movie that the music video was made from.

3. Anything Could Happen by Ellie Goulding

"I'll give you everything you need, but I don't think I need you."

I don't exactly understand the bleeding nose, but hey it's artistic and it's supposed to make you think...the music video I mean.

4. Want U Back by Cher Lloyd

I don't really understand how I didn't like this song when it was first released, because I'm kind of obsessed. Yeah I know...sorry not sorry. REMINDER: Ladies, don't sabotage other girls for guys...there's nothing I dislike more than a mean girl.

5. Diamonds by Rihanna

"Shine bright like a diamond."

This reminds me of Ri-Ri's old stuff. I liked the old Rihanna.

So is there anything new that I should be listening to? What is your playlist?
