Sunday, July 13, 2014

Late night everything.

My sister has been in town and that is why I haven't written.

Oh well.

Here's a playlist.

1 // Stay Alive by Jose Gonzalez

Seriously need Walty Mitty right now.

2 // All Coming Back to Me Now by Celine Dion

This is on like 5 times a day at my house. It just is.

3 // When I Fall in Love by Sam Cooke

4 // Human Nature by Michael Jackson

5 // Tenerife Sea by Ed Sheeran

Probably the most beautiful thing my ears have ever heard.

6 // Venus by Sleeping at Last

7 // True Colors by Jules Larson

8 // Jolene by Ray Lamontagne

How many times has this been on a playlist? Sorry not sorry.

9 // Let It Be Me by Ray Lamontagne

You might also be aware that this is late. (I am posting this at 10:00 PM on Sunday...yes, I know...)

Oh well, again. I hope you enjoyed.

Playlist Thursday: Some favorites

Friday, February 21, 2014

This week I have been listening to a few new things but mostly the oldie but goodie ones that I've discovered throughout my three college years.

Do you have those songs? The ones that remind you of moments. A few of these songs remind me of summer. First love. New friends. And my old apartment at SingleTree. Feel free to share some songs that do nostalgia for you.

Happy listening.

1. Hiding Out by Sucre

This reminds me SO much for my friend Karly Catto. She is currently serving a mission in Washington, and I miss her quite terribly. This came up on my shuffle and I freaked a little. I was reminded of its absolute beauty. Sucre has the voice of dreams. Just listening to this song reminds me of Karly's profound wisdom and kindness. God bless you, Sister Catto!

2. If Only I by Jon Mclaughlin

I heard this on the Vampires Diaries like so long ago and I was hooked.

3. Sun by Sleeping at Last

The beauty.  I can't even.

4. Mercury by Sleeping at Last

5. Call Your Girlfriend by Robyn

This is on my ultimate playlist, because it is ULTIMATE. It really is. The music video. The beats. The dance. Robyn. All of it. Like this song epitomized my sophomore year of college.

6. God Made Man by Young the Giant

7. Cough Syrup by Young the Giant

8. My Blood by Ellie Goulding

9. I See Fire by Ed Sheeran

I know, it's The Hobbit song...but guys. OH my gosh. Ed Sheeran. His voice melts me. I have to get "+". Why haven't I done that yet?

10. Heart Attack by Demi Lovato

#GirlPower

11. A Life That's Good by Lennon and Maisy

If I am having a bad day, I will listen to this song and everything feels alright.

12. Shot at the Night by The Killers

This is my newest favorite. It's always in my head.

Instagram feeds are the worst.

Friday, January 31, 2014

I've been getting all of my posts done early this week. Totally posted a playlist on a wednesday and the wish list on tuesday. Way to be, Dani. Way to be. Why not get the Friday Favorites done early too? These still might be put up on Friday, but at least it won't be on Saturday!

1. Supreme Comfort Food. Oh man...I want these right now. My mouth is watering.

2.  The Gap sale. So good. Got some dynamite deals. It's not online but it is IN STORE. Check that out!

3. The J.Crew sale. Also dynamite for J.Crew standards.

4. H&M's new collection.

5. THIS cardigan.

6. Sleeping at Last's latest edition to Atlas. SPACE 1 and SPACE 2. It is blowing me away right now. Listen to alll of it.

7. Comfy and cute. I love me some comfy and cute.

8. Details make shoes.

9. For newlyweds.

10. Oh I would love this for these long and dreary Provo days.

11. Ty and I said NO gifts for Valentines...but of course a card with something inside doesn't count, right?

12. *language warning* this is fetching hilarious and true in many ways!

13. My pinterest board has been inspiring my wardrobe choices hardcore lately. What is inspiring you?

Do you have any plans this weekend? What is inspiring you?

Have a safe and happy one.

Stay gold.

I am not listening to Christmas music.

Saturday, November 16, 2013

No I am not. Okay I totally am. The She & Him album got me this morning and now A Charlie Brown Christmas is accompanying this blog post writing. So don't hate if at least ONE Christmas song is on this playlist. I know just the one.

1. Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas by Andrew Belle

It doesn't even sound like a Christmas song! But it is! The Judy Garland version has to be my most favorite from Meet Me in St. Louis. It makes me cry every single time, but it never hurts when someone does a little different version. That's what makes covers so great.

2. Snow by Sleeping at Last

"Like the petals in our pockets
May we remember who we are
Unconditionally cared for
By those who share our broken hearts

The table is set and our glasses are full
Though pieces go missing, may we still feel whole
We’ll build new traditions in place of the old
Cause life without revision will silence our souls"

Sleeping at Last is meant for Fall and Winter.

3. Ends of the Earth by Lord Huron

P.S. I highly recommend ALL of Lord Huron's music videos. They are completely and totally beautiful and entertaining.  (These are the trailers to each video...but seriously watch all of them.)

4. Life is Life by Noah and the Whale

I'ma be real. I don't know what this music is all about...but you know?

6.  Holy Grail by Jay-Z feat. Justin Timberlake

SO good. The clean version of course. The best way to find it? Spotify.

Sleeping at Last

Friday, May 17, 2013

Normally, I would post a lot of my favorites of the week, but right now I'm in the mood where music is going to speak for me, because it's been one of those rollercoaster days where you love people and then you hate them and you want to speak your mind all the time and you just want to do what you want and then you love food but you hate it..just kidding that could never happen, but you know what I mean, right?

Just listen to the beauty and have a happy and safe weekend.

1. Emphasis by Sleeping at Last

I had to include every single line to this song because it is the most poetic and lovely and beautiful thing I have ever read.

"Death is promised to the bee who's sting protects the colony.
Was its life worth nothing more than honey for the queen?
Life is a branch and it is a dove, handcrafted by confusing love.
Sign language is our reply, when church bells make no sound.
In hollow towers and empty hives, we craved sweetness with a fear of heights.
Was it all just a grain of sand in an hourglass?

The smartest thing I've ever learned is that I don't have all the answers,
just a little light to call my own.
Though it pales in comparison to the overarching shadows,
a speck of light can reignite the sun and swallow darkness whole.

Death is a cold, blindfolded kiss.
It is the finger pressed upon our lips.
It puts an unwanted emphasis on how we should have lived.
Life is a gorgeous, broken gift.
Six billion+ pieces waiting to be fixed.
Love letters that were never signed, sent to where we live.

But the sweetest thing I've ever heard is that I don't have to have the answers,
just a little light to call my own.
Though it pales in comparison to the overarching shadows,
a speck of light can reignite the sun and swallow darkness whole."

2. Woodwork by Sleeping at Last

The melody, it carries on while we come undone, and makes us new. All our love came out of the woodwork."

3. I'll Keep You Safe by Sleeping at Last

"As you build up your collection of pearls that you pulled from the deep. A landscape more beautiful than anything that I’ve ever seen. The sound of the branches breaking under your feet. The smell of the falling and burning leaves. The bitterness of winter. Or the sweetness of spring. You are an artist and your heart is your masterpiece. And I’ll keep it safe."

4.  Uneven Odds by Sleeping at Last

"So I write these words down,“Darkness exists to make light truly count.”"

Don't you just want to cry, smile, dance, laugh, runaway? I sure do.

Tunes

1. Next To Me by Sleeping at Last

"If time is money, then I'll spend it all for you. I will buy you flowers with the minutes we outgrew.
I'll turn hours into gardens, planted just for us to take. I'll be reckless with my days, building castles in your name."

Sleeping at Last: Yearbook. A-ma-zing.

2. Who Are We Fooling by Brooke Fraser feat. Aqualung

"This beautiful tangle that's bruising us blue is the beautiful knot that we just can't undo. Together we're one but apart tell me who are we fooling."

Aqualung and Brooke Fraser should get married. Get married. Now.

3. We Found Each Other in The Dark by City and Colour

"Through the black star-less water, and the cold lonely air. On the rough, restless seas, the vessel in deep disrepair, and the swans they started singing but then oh, rejoice! I can still hear your voice. Then I heard the church bells from afar, but we found each other in the dark."

Oh this song is the best thing to ever happen to me. Well, that's a lie, but it's pretty close. How could a man have such a beautiful voice?

4. Baleen Morning by Balmorhea

Instrumentals are slowly becoming my very favorite. This is SO lovely.

5. Woodstock by Brooke Fraser

"I came upon a child of God. He was walking along the road, and I asked him, where are you going? And this he told me: I'm going on down to yasgur's farm. I'm going to join in a rock 'n' roll band. I'm going to camp out on the land. I'm going to try an' get my soul free. We are stardust. We are golden. And we've got to get ourselves. Back to the garden."

So I can't find a link to this, and I'm thinking that is the case because this might be a cover, but enjoy this lovely tune on Spotify or if you can find it any where else.

6. Now Is the Start by A Fine Frenzy

"Kiss...with a mouth of shooting stars. Of lost and broken hearts. Unafraid you can name your scars. With a touch of a new heart. It's the sound of a new start."

This song has never been more relevant in my life. It's about a fresh start. A start of something new. I need a new start.

7. Little Hell by City and Colour

"What if everything's just the way that it will be? Could it be that I am meant to cause you all this grief?"

Again. Relevant.

8. Next To Me by Emeli Sande

"You won't find him trying to chase the devil, for money, fame, for power, out of grief. You won't ever find him where the rest go. You will find him, you'll find him next to me."

Two "Next To Me's" in one playlist. Yes. The new Adele? Well sorta. You're so close Emeli.

What are you listening to?
Do you have any song reccommendations for me?
Happy listening.
Stay gold.
P.S. I'm posting TWO playlists today! Woopdeedoo!

The Loveliest #2

Friday, March 8, 2013

I get in these moods where I listen to the same beautiful songs over and over again. Does that happen to you? Are there songs that you can listen to for like a whole month and never get tired of them? I love music like that. Here are some songs that I just never seem to get tired of because they are so darn lovely. They make you want to fall in love or look at the stars.

1.Who Are We Fooling (Feat. Aqualung) by Brooke Fraser

2. Dear True Love by Sleeping at Last

3. Sailboats by Brooke Fraser

4. Oh My Stars by Andrew Belle

5. I Love You and Buddha Too by Mason Jennings

6. Morning Song by The Lumineers

7. Raindrops on the Kitchen Floor by Mason Jennings

P.S. I didn't include lyrics because today I feel like being lazy. Plus, I have a group interview tonight and I'm sweating bullets. No time to ponder poetic lyrics. I'm sure you understand.
