I took the piney way.

Monday, March 3, 2014

p h o t o

Last week was a week of "I want, I want, I want", "Well what about me's?" and a lot of "I wish...".

Well last week it also rained, and that rain taught me a thing or two.

Have you noticed that people are never satisfied with the weather?

Never ever.

We thank God for the moisture, but we complain about it ten seconds later.

Oh I wish it were sunny.

Oh I wish it would rain.

Oh I wish the snow would go away.

This and that.

Believe it or not, I've noticed that we are like that with a lot of life's circumstances. We just are.

We are imperfect humans who complain.

But the piney way taught me different.

It was rainy, and I was very grateful for it, of course (Except, that very morning I said...well as long the snow stays in the mountains...typical Dani.)

I was walking and enjoying the mist and feeling a little bit heavy with my workload but grateful for the refreshing cool that nipped your nose but not your toes.

Class was letting out and campus was getting busy.

I didn't really feel like maneuvering the crowd so I decided to take this little sidewalk path to my class that is rarely taken by anyone. The road less traveled, you know?

And as I was walking, this peace came over me. My mind cleared. I took a deep breath and it was piney. Piney. Fresh. Cold. Crisp. Luscious, really.

I felt the drips of rain on my nose.

A blip on my glasses.

It pitter-pattered against the piney smelling tree above me. Droopy with big, fat teardrops.

I looked up at it and I looked at the gray clouds. And I smiled.

And I was grateful, because I truly believe that God was reminding me that He was aware of me.

He knows me. He knows that I thrive for misty mountains and misty mornings. He knows I thrive for rainy trees and sunlight hitting leaves just right.

He knows I live for crisp air.

I chose to take that path, and I don't think God made me take it...I mean he doesn't usually prompt us that way all the time. But I took it and then His hand was there.

My cluttered mind and heavy shoulders were cleansed from the weepy sky and water-logged tree...and I am most thankful.

Like Robert Frost, that piney way made all the difference.

Friday Favorites

Friday, August 10, 2012

1. A healing mouth.
I was able to bite into a burger and actually chew it. It was the best thing in the entire world. The bruising is going down, and I just finished my antibiotic...SO NO MORE NAUSEA ATTACKS!

2. Project Runway
My favorite show. Ever. More than ANTM. More than Friday Night Lights...okay maybe not, but I love that show. The new season is kinda bugging me though. Have any of you been watching it? What do you think of the designers? Do you think they are talented? Me? Not so much. I think the people with the most promise are Dmitry, Sonjia, and Ven.

3. Back to School Shopping
It can be such a pain, especially when you're looking for deals, but when you do find great deals it's so much fun. I love shopping. It's not good, but I love shopping. I have picked up some cute stuff if I do say so myself.

4. FLORAL PANTS
It may look like my feet are dirty, but I promise they are not. The discoloration you see is a tanline that I got from my sandals. Triangle tan lines WOO!

Aren't these great? I got them at Rue 21 for $10! I was worried about the quality, I haven't worn them yet, but they feel nice and durable. I will get some good wear out of them.

5. Ross/T.J. Maxx/ The Gap Factory Store
Shirts and pants under 20 dollars? Count me in!

6. Friday Night Lights and Friendship Bracelets.
Ah Timmy, there is a glare on your face but you are still so good looking.
My sister and I spent our whole Wednesday watching Tim Riggins be gorgeous, and making candy stripe friendship bracelets. A day well spent I say.

7. Say Yes to the Dress
For some reason, I am addicted to that show. Whenever they are having a marathon on TLC I am hooked. I get crazy wedding fever. Sigh.

8. Jeremiah's with the Family
Today my dad came home and wanted some good home cooking. So instead of having my mom make something, we went down to Jeremiah's and indulged in the best comfort food in town. To make it even better, it was pouring rain outside. Oh so cozy. I love nights like these. I really love food and I REALLY REALLY REALLY love my family. So it was perfect.

Now for some Pinterest Fave's and Bloglovin'!

A Friday Full of Favorites

Friday, May 18, 2012

Hello lovely people!
This will be my first "real" post on this blog! On my tumblr, I would do a list of favorites and I thought it would be fun to transfer that to this blog. Sometimes the list will be big, other times it will be small. Sometimes the favorites will be cohesive, and other times they will be random. I just want to share with you what I have been loving this week. I hope you are excited for the weekend! I know I am. My brother is coming up from school and it's my other brothers birthday. That means a lot of laughter and delicious food. I'm so stoked. Now it's time for my favorites!

1. Rainymood
Do you love the sound of rain? Click the link if you do.

2. Bon Iver
I love his music in general, but it is even better when you listen to it while listening to Rainymood. Some of my favorites by Bon Iver are Michicant, Skinny Love, Beth/Rest (my favorite),  Flume, and For Emma. He also does an absolutely beautiful cover of Bonnie Raitt's "I Can't Make You Love Me". It seriously gives me chills and almost brings me to tears.

3. Peanut Butter Sheet Cake

It's peanut butter and cake...who could ask for more? Seriously it's so good. You have to lock yourself in your room just so you won't eat more than once piece.

4.  Fabric Shopping

This summer, my mom is teaching me how to sew. I have always wanted to make my own skirts. These are the fabrics I chose. I was on a black and white, polka dots, stripes, mustard kick. Still am. Wish me luck!

5. Bath and Body Works: Aromatherapy Body Mist in Sleep- Lavender Chamomile
When I went to go buy the pillow mist, it was sold out so I just bought this and I use it for the same purposes. It is so relaxing and helps me sleep so well, because I suffer from insomnia. I love it.

6. My Favorite Outfit of the Week

This is what I'm wearing today. It is pouring rain outside (yay).
Watch: Michael Kors
Blouse: The Gap Factory Store ($4.97 can you believe it?)
Scarf: American Eagle (Similar version)
You can't see them but my jeans are Levi's Skinny Jeans.

Well that's all for my favorites. I hope you all have a beautiful Friday no matter what weather you are having. Eat good food, stay lovely and most importantly stay happy.
