Friday Favorites: Lunch Dates, Food, and Riches for Rags

Friday, August 17, 2012

If you follow my tumblr, you would probably already know what my favorites are for this fine week. I am going basically repeat that post and add a few new things. Heck, I'm lazy this Friday.

Favorite #1: My lunch date. Nothing’s better than eating at a drive-in with a boy who’s been working outside all day, who smells like grass and dirt, and most importantly who makes you laugh.

Favorite #2: Riches for Rags. If you follow me on Pinterest, you probably logged on the other night and saw probably 100 outfit pins. I have Riches for Rags to thank for those. It is my kind of tumblr. Every post is impeccably styled. I love it. There is such an eclectic mix. Check it out!

Favorite #3:  Leopard Loafers
Mossimo BlackĀ® Vianca Tuxedo Flat - Assorted Colors.Opens in a new window
Target

Steve Madden came out with the Leopard Loafers that everyone just HAD to have. I was one of those people who HAD to have them, but unfortunately never got the chance to get them. Thank goodness Mossimo came out with a very inexpensive alternative. The quality is pretty great too! They aren't EXACTLY the same, but they do their job. I love mixing other prints with leopard.

Favorite #4: Another shoe favorite...Vans in Blue Bell/ True White
Vans // 1, 2
I have now been converted to Vans.  Judge me! I can't turn into a "Shoe" person. Nothing wrong with them, it's just that I love all the expensive ones.

Favorite #5: The Dark Knight Rises.
I saw it again with my sister and brother. It was WAY better the second time. I understood the plot a lot better, and I actually almost started to cry. If a movie makes me cry, it's a good one, but really that's not saying much. I can find a reason to cry in just about EVERY movie.

Favorite #6: Little Women with Krystal
After packing up my entire closet, shoes, towels, and bedding, Krystal and I decided to watch Little Women. We were so worn out...we cried for about 15 minutes of it. Beth's death scene kills me every time. We were sobbing. I'm not even kidding. I love that movie so much. Christian Bale twice in a week? Ahhh yeah.

Favorite #7: Speaking of packing...PACKING
I am surprised that I have enjoyed packing so much. I was really upset that I had to, but I got SO much organizing and de-junking done. It also helped that Krystal and I were dancing and singing while doing so.

Favorite #8: SHRIMP BASKETS FROM KIRT'S
I wrote that in all caps, because they are JUST that good.

Favorite #9: Winco Gummy Bears
So colorful! I want to eat them all!

Favorite #10: Bon Iver and Fleet Foxes with Rainymood
Anything with Rainymood really, but mostly Bon Iver and Fleet Foxes.

Favorite #11: Pizza...favorite food. Really though. Pizza.

Favorite #12:  Astronaut Cat
NO WEEK IS COMPLETE WITHOUT AN ASTRONAUT CAT!

Happy Friday everyone! Maybe even possibly Happy Weekend! Stay safe. Stay happy. Stay lovely. Stay Golden.

Friday Favorites

Friday, August 10, 2012

1. A healing mouth.
I was able to bite into a burger and actually chew it. It was the best thing in the entire world. The bruising is going down, and I just finished my antibiotic...SO NO MORE NAUSEA ATTACKS!

2. Project Runway
My favorite show. Ever. More than ANTM. More than Friday Night Lights...okay maybe not, but I love that show. The new season is kinda bugging me though. Have any of you been watching it? What do you think of the designers? Do you think they are talented? Me? Not so much. I think the people with the most promise are Dmitry, Sonjia, and Ven.

3. Back to School Shopping
It can be such a pain, especially when you're looking for deals, but when you do find great deals it's so much fun. I love shopping. It's not good, but I love shopping. I have picked up some cute stuff if I do say so myself.

4. FLORAL PANTS
It may look like my feet are dirty, but I promise they are not. The discoloration you see is a tanline that I got from my sandals. Triangle tan lines WOO!

Aren't these great? I got them at Rue 21 for $10! I was worried about the quality, I haven't worn them yet, but they feel nice and durable. I will get some good wear out of them.

5. Ross/T.J. Maxx/ The Gap Factory Store
Shirts and pants under 20 dollars? Count me in!

6. Friday Night Lights and Friendship Bracelets.
Ah Timmy, there is a glare on your face but you are still so good looking.
My sister and I spent our whole Wednesday watching Tim Riggins be gorgeous, and making candy stripe friendship bracelets. A day well spent I say.

7. Say Yes to the Dress
For some reason, I am addicted to that show. Whenever they are having a marathon on TLC I am hooked. I get crazy wedding fever. Sigh.

8. Jeremiah's with the Family
Today my dad came home and wanted some good home cooking. So instead of having my mom make something, we went down to Jeremiah's and indulged in the best comfort food in town. To make it even better, it was pouring rain outside. Oh so cozy. I love nights like these. I really love food and I REALLY REALLY REALLY love my family. So it was perfect.

Now for some Pinterest Fave's and Bloglovin'!

Playlist Thursday: Birthday Playlist and a Discovery

Thursday, July 12, 2012

First order of business, and it's kind of random, but I don't have to get my wisdom teeth out this week. Turns out my Great-Uncle is visiting from Puerto Rico and I can't be in bed while they are here. SO I don't have to do anything to my mouth until the 31st. I know it's better to get these things done, but seriously, I would much rather hang out with my family that I never get to see than stay in bed all day. Those 4 impacted babies in my mouth can hold on just a few more weeks and I'll just deal with the tenderness.

Second order of business, this week I spent all my time making a playlist for Valley Boy ( I call him "Valley Boy" because my Dad insists on calling him that.)  He gave me one for my birthday so I thought it would only be right to make him one in return. I don't mean to toot my own horn, but I made a pretty darn good playlist. I have Karly to thank for most of it. Thank you Karly for the amazing music you share with me. Music soulmates. Give it a listen why dontcha? I would put a link for it on Spotify but not everyone has Spotify so I will just type it up on here. You can thank me later. Cool? Cool.

1. In Your Light- Gotye
2. I Got- Young the Giant
3. The King and All of His Men- Wolf Gang
4. Roslyn- Bon Iver & St. Vincent
5. C'mon Talk (Live)- Bernhoft
6. I Feel Better- Gotye
7. Simple Song- The Shins
8. Tomorrow- Niki & the Dove
9. Bloom- The Paper Kites
10. Yellow- Scala & Kolacny Brothers
11. Take a Walk- Passion Pit
12. Called Out in the Dark- Snow Patrol
13. Learnalilgivinanlovin'- Gotye
14. Bronte- Gotye
15. Friends and Lovers- Incubus
16. Anna Sun- Walk the Moon
17. Wake Up- Arcade Fire
18. Lisbon, OH- Bon Iver
19. Beth/Rest- Bon Iver

Third order of business, I will highlight the songs that I haven't featured on my playlist posts before so you can check those out and listen to something other than Gotye and Bon Iver. Tee hee...forgive.

Fourth order, I discovered Ed Sheeran this week. I am in love. Go check out his album "+" It's so good. I will definitely be putting some of his songs on future playlists.

Also, I discovered "Friday Night Lights" it's Valley Boy's favorite show, he told me to watch it and so I did. Now I am hooked. We need more Matt Saracen's on this planet.

Fifth order, remember when I said I would be sharing songs that my friends said were their favorites well I have one for you today!

The first person I asked has been one of my best friends since 2nd grade. He is one of the strongest people I know and the song he picked was just so fitting for his life and personality. His favorite song is "I Won't Give Up" by Jason Mraz. The reasons he loves it so much are very personal, but I hope you can listen and reflect on the people you won't give up on. On the people that won't give up on you. If you are struggling right now, don't give up. Never ever give up. Thank you friend for sharing such a beautiful song and story. I love you.

Make sure to share your music picks of the week with me! Have a splendid day. Do what is right. Stay golden, and I will be back tomorrow with my favorites.

Thursday Playlist: A mix of everything and a little love

Thursday, May 31, 2012

Hey ya'll ( I lived with two Texans for eight months, they grew on me)

I forgot to mention two of my favorite tumblrs yesterday! First, my sweet friend Erin has such a cute tumblr. It's just full of love and is for the hopeless romantic. I just love little lost olive. Next, my friend Talor is one of the funniest and and coolest people ever. EVER. I wish I got to know her more in high school, because honestly I really do think we could get along so well. We share the same views on things...it's awesome. I just can't say how cool she is. I also love her tumblr name talorlynn-awakemysoul. AH Mumford and Sons so great. Please check out their tumblrs and follow them. they are SO awesome. Get to it and I'll get to my playlist.

1. Titanium by David Guetta feat. Sia

I am proud to say that I liked Sia before she was cool. This song is like my confidence, pick me up, I can do anything song. I love it so much and Sia's voice is just great. David Guetta puts in some good beats too. Listen here. Please excuse the somewhat strange music video. I think it's a little strange. Cool but strange.

2. Take Care by Drake feat. Rihanna

Um...yeah I don't know how I came to like this one so much. I don't even like Rihanna. I like Drake though so yeah. I mean I guess it is a hit or miss for people, but I really like it. I'll take care of you. Here's the deal, apparently it's explicit...I um don't ever hear anything explicit in the lyrics when I listen to it though. But just in case I'm not going to link it for you, because what if you hear what I don't? I don't want you blaming me for your guilt. Haha.

3. Giving Me a Chance by Gotye

Love. Love. Love. Love. That's all I have to say. Just listen.

4. Beth/Rest by Bon Iver

It is my FAVORITE song by him. Listen to it with Rainymood and just sit back and take it all in. It makes me cry every time I listen. Without fail. I must have some memory that is linked with it. It just...I don't even know if I can subscribe or say how much I love this song. If you don't like it that's okay. I forgive you.

5. Houdini by Foster the People

Man, I wish more people liked Foster the People's other songs. They are so catchy. I really love the music video to this song, and the little dance that they do. I was hoping they would have some cute dance to go with this song. It makes me wanna dance myself. So groovy.

6. Now I have five songs by The Fray for you. They are all from their newest album Scars & Stories.

-Be Still
-Rainy Zurich
-Munich
-I Can Barely Say
-Heartbreak

My favorite out of the five is Be Still. It is extremely comforting and beautiful.

7.  Never Let Me Go by Florence + the Machine

She is a favorite. I love her music. This song is just SO good. Sorry I'm not good at describing songs. That's why you have to listen to it yourself! I can never find a good video for it on youtube. I suggest listening to it on Spotify, Last FM, you get the gist of it right?

8. Payphone by Maroon 5 feat. Wiz Khalifa

If you don't like swearing...LISTEN TO THE CLEAN VERSION. Trust me.

9.  What If by Jason Derulo

Sappy love song. YAY! Cheesy music video. YAY! Jason Derulo. YAY! Nay?

10. Slow Dancing in a Burning Room by John Mayer

I seriously think I mention this song every minute of every day. I apologize for the one swear it has in it.  The guitar, his voice, the lyrics, the sound. It's all perfect. He performs it live and it brings you chills. I also love this video. I love dancers and dancing. I wish I was talented in that area. Holy cow this makes you cry. Watch and love. It makes me love the song even more.

That's all for today. Listen up and hopefully you find something you like. Comment below with your favorite songs of the moment. Peace!

Normally...

Wednesday, May 30, 2012

Normally...I would have a Wednesday wishlist BUT I do not have a worthwhile wishlist to share. There is only one item. So I thought I would do a special little post about some very special people.

On other blogs it's called Bloglovin' I guess I'll call it the same thing. Or maybe I'll think of something more catchy and witty. The links below are links to my friends blogs and tumblrs. You best be following them. Cool? Cool!

First up, Megan my little Texan roommate. She is the greatest. She really writes thoughtful posts about life and the hilarious, heartbreaking, and oh so sweet events that happen in hers. If you want a good laugh or cry follow and read Angel Eyes.

Second, a friend from school and my junior high days. My first college roommate who I know and love. Emilee has a tumblr and a blog. She is a lover of Disney, whimsy, and romance. She is darling and really can satisfy your sweet tooth. Not with candy but with her cute posts. (Hopefully, she'll write more on her blog, but really that's her choice. I don't want to pressure her into anything she doesn't want to do) Make sure to check out Perfectly Imperfect and The Many Adventures of Emianne.

Thirdly, a dear friend that I met at school. She has the best sense of humor. She is artistic and very wise. She is one of my very good friends. I consider her one anyway. She is good at listening and she is the best to talk to. Leah really puts thought into her posts and she has an eye for beautiful art and things. She also has a tumblr and a blog, Inspiration and Mind Mapping.

Fourth, to the girl who always comments and reads my posts. To the girl that really makes me feel like this blog was worthwhile. To an amazing and talented lady named Karly. Follow her blog. She is an illustrator and let me tell you...she does not fail at it. The Artwork of Karly Jade. She is swanky I tell you.

To my few readers, please check out these blogs. You won't be sorry. I love these people and they really say things that are worthwhile. They will uplift you and make your day brighter. They have done that for me. That's all for today. Hopefully I'll have a playlist for you tomorrow. Until then, peace.
