Autumn Asks

Whats your favorite thing about Autumn?

Oh I love so many things about Autumn, but my favorite thing has to be just the changing of the seasons. Utah is the best when it comes to seasons and this year we actually get a fall so it feels amazing. I love watching the leaves change colors and I love how the air becomes so crisp and cool. Although everything is dying in the fall, it's like everything has a new life with perfectly flushed cheeks.

What's you're favorite type of apple?

Fuji, but in the fall, a honey crisp apple, and if we are being really serious here, a granny smith smothered in caramel and dipped in white chocolate and graham cracker. Yum.

What's your favorite seasonal drink?

I tried to convince myself that I was a Pumpkin Spice Latte girl, but the caffeine killed my brain and so I am definitely a peppermint hot cocoa lady. Pumpkin coconut hot chocolate is the bomb too.

Do you prefer going out or staying in on a fall evening?

It depends on the activity. Staying in  and watching a movie with a big bowl of popcorn is always the greatest, but fall is perfect for night games, corn mazes, walks in the park and even street events. Odyssey Dance Theatre's Thriller is coming up and I can't wait to go.

Favorite pair of shoes/boots you own?

My Sam Edelman Petty boots in putty are my go-to. So comfortable and all-around stylish.

What's your favorite fall scent?

Nivana White and Black by Elizabeth and James. Mix them.

Favorite Halloween candy?

Caramel apple candy corn, oh and the novelty of the orange coated kitkat. Oh wait. THE CARAMEL APPLE SUCKERS THAT YOU COULD GET FOR LIKE 10 CENTS AT KINGS...or was that just me?

Have you ever been to a state fair? How was it?

Yes, when I was little and all I can remember was the creepy carnival guys and the super hot tornado french fries. I wish they were more magical to me.

How many blankets do you sleep with in the fall/winter?

Three, but I love my down comfortable and that is enough for me.

How do you spend a night-in in the fall?

On the couch eating a beautiful slice of homemade pizza, watching a Wes Andersen film or playing a cheeky card game.

Do you plan on going out for Halloween this year? And as what?

Yes, but the idea of a couples costume really stresses me out because I never know what to do. Like do I even believe in the spirit of couples costumes. Are Tyler and I even in love if we don't do a couples costume. Oh what fresh hell is this!?!

How do you make/order your hot chocolate?

2 cups half and half or milk or whatever. 1 cup chocolate chips and then the options are endless. I love mine with coconut or peppermint.

What's your favorite color the leaves turn?

That gorgeous bright red that could be made into a gorgeous fall lipstick or blush.

How do you decorate for fall/Halloween?

I have an apartment and I really am lazy when it comes to holiday decorating. I have a calavera I got from mexico and it's the best thing ever. So...yeah...

Is pumpkin spice worth the hype?

If it's in bread form with an obnoxious amount of semi-sweet chocolate chips.

What's your favorite autumnal dessert?

Pumpkin bars are my jam. I also love a perfectly cakey cider donut.

What's your idea of the perfect rainy day?

Windows slightly open for that chilly breeze, sweater+leggings, soft and easy music, good food, lots of laughter and the perfect grey stillness.

What's your favorite sweater?

ALL OF THEM. Oversized and not itchy preferably.

What's your favorite album to listen to in the fall?

Bon Iver by Bon Iver or Only Kingdom by Ben Howard

I like J.Crew in the Spring

Wednesday, January 23, 2013

It's not that I don't like the store in the Winter, but J.Crew seems so bright and fresh when Spring rolls around. It's just what you need when the sun is always hiding behind the clouds. And it will be nice when springtime comes, because I will be off my Clothing Fast and I can surround myself with bright shorts and chiffon tops. Or lightweight sweaters...if the weather is in a bad mood. Plus, who can resist the new arrivals that greet you when go to the website, or the style guide catalog? That thing is perfect.

So on a particularly dreary day when I was very tempted to race to the nearest store and buy something, I shoved all of my money sources away and did some internet window shopping. Be ready for a beautiful wishlist that screams green grass, and warm, breezy days. (Okay maybe it doesn't scream it, but you get the picture.)

P.S. This is not sponsored. Yeah.

Have you looked at J.Crew's Spring Lookbook? What are you wishing for? What are you most excited for fashion-wise, this coming season?

Comment below and always stay gold.

P.S. I know EVERYTHING at J.Crew is pricey and a lot of us want to save our money. Have no fear though,  I'm a big fan of the J.Crew Factory, in fact I'll be featuring them in next Wednesday's post. They are perfect if you want that classic J.Crew look without blowing your college sized wallet into pieces. Stay tuned.

Wishlist Wednesday: Camping, Fall Weddings, and Pinspirations

Wednesday, October 3, 2012

Last night I had a "Once Upon a Pizza Night" with my roommates and former roommates. I realized late last night afterwards, that I had nothing in my wishlist, except for the jumper I'm going to show you. That won't stop me though, get ready for a little blubbering over fall weddings and pinspiration.

So first, the jumper.

Fall makes me want to camp. I know, summertime is usually camping time, but seriously when it starts getting cool and the mountains start to change, I can't help but want to get out there. Wrap myself in sweaters and hats, and sleep in a tent under the stars. I want a camp fire, I want to cook food over it, and I want to share blankets with people I love. I have the camping bug right now. Thus, this sweater/jumper, whatever you want to call it.

How fitting right? Can I please have this? Who wants to get it for me for Christmas? Or for Thanksgiving? Pun intended, I would be a happy camper if I got this. Yep. Pretty much.

Because I have been on such a fall kick, I have desired a fall wedding. This surprises me, because I've always wanted to be married in June (Seven brides anyone?) There are so many problems with those when you're a college student though (including the fact that I'm no where near getting engaged).  I mean fall means school, midterms, interesting weather (if you live in Utah), but it would be so beautiful. Just look at these pictures and I'm sure I'll have you convinced.

I even attempted to recreate this look.

I know it's not even close to being impeccably styled, but when you're a college student and only have a bathroom mirror to take pictures, it's the best you can do.

When you would want to get married? Which season? Which month? Do you love camping? Do any of you want to go on a camping trip with me? What has been inspiring your wishlists lately? Comment below and have a happy day!

Terrific Tuesday: Happiness Is Autumn

Tuesday, October 2, 2012

I have the wonderful opportunity to go shadow and observe at a high school every Tuesday and Thursday. I enjoy the experience, but I think I might just like the drive more. I get to drive and watch the sunrise. I get to see sunlight creep shyly over it's hiding place. I get to see the mountains glow, and the color on the trees come to life. It is stunning really. Driving every morning and seeing such a sight makes me so happy. It is better than a cup of coffee or peanut butter cheerios.

So in celebration of this Fall Season, here's how to relish Autumn!
