Runway Recap // Jason Wu, Jenny Packham, Jill Stuart, Kanye West X Adidas Original, Kate Spade

Tuesday, March 10, 2015

Jason Wu knows how to dress women, and he's dressed about all of them. The black shoes with this white frock just work. His collection was an eclectic mix of work-wear, tailored tops, shimmering details, and white gracefulness. This would be an amazing, unconventional wedding dress.

When I think Jenny Packham, I think femininity. Pure femininity. Her gowns are so major. A little bohemian inspired, a little surge of 1970's, and a little bit of glitter can take you far, as Jenny Packham shows us. Luxurious and modern, but with a dramatic flair like a black and white movie. That's her in a nutshell to me. Oh another thing about Jenny Packham, her wedding dresses are by far the most beautiful things I have ever seen. I almost got one for my wedding. True story. But oh the money my parents would have had to drop.

(She dresses Kate Middleton; shut the front door.)

Cute girls in cute, short dresses with the best shoes. That's Jill Stuart for you.

Ok, Kanye, I only like these two pieces because you collabed with Adidas. It's hard for me to like you, but that pink number is the bomb. I want all of the tights, but I could go without the "I'm naked, but I'm not" look. Maybe it's too high fashion for me, or  maybe I'm just modest by nature. That oversized t-shirt though. Dreamy.

And then Kate Spade walks through the door and makes all my wildest dreams come true. Oh Kate Spade. Dear, lovely, adorable, perfect, sporty chic, Kate Spade. Kate Spade makes happiness happen in fashion week. You get invited to her show/presentation and you are the most beloved person. You are the coolest person too. You are the "It" girl person!  I LOVED her collection. It was Upper East Side Gossip Girl infused with sporty casual amazingness, kinda a la J.Crew. It's like Blair Waldorf,  Serena Van der Woodsen, and Cher from Clucless had the most perfect clad in plaid fashion baby. I. Am. All. About. It.

Wish me luck!

Wednesday, November 6, 2013

Today my sweet roommate Megan decided that she would dare to accompany me (and give me a ride) on my search for the perfect wedding shoe. And so we shall make the journey over the point of the mountain to the closest mall with a J.Crew and a Nordstrom to find the shoes that will grace my toes on December 28th and January 4th. There will be many contenders...but only one will be chosentand with the perfect price point and the most stylish and comfortable fit I (and the shoe) will come out conquerer.

I'm pretty darn proud of that intro people. Let's get to the shoes already!

J.Crew // Leather Bow Ankle Strap Pumps
These beauties in blush are on sale now for an extra 30 percent off. They aren't online, but who says they aren't in store? Cross your fingers.
Kate Spade // Krysta Heel
Oh how I wish these weren't as expensive as they are. I am going to try them on anyway, because they are gorrrrrgeous. Plus, don't get me started on that rose gold glitter. My legs won't be showing at my wedding, but now I kind of want them to be.
Kate Spade // Charm Heels in Navy
Oh dear heavens. These are the dreamiest. One of my colors is navy. Why not wear a statement shoe? The glitter makes the deep hue not as harsh as you think against a champagne/creme colored dress.
Nordstrom (Half Yearly Sale for Women and Kids ya'll!) // Dawn Pump by Badgley Mischka
Be still my heart. I die. Guys, these are on sale. These might win. Who knows...I have to try them on.
P.S. They come in Taupe, but look at them...they are like the most perfect color ever. I can't even. I can't. Be good to be half-yearly, be good to me.

Are you going to go all out for your wedding shoes? Does it depend on what the groom thinks? Respond below! Let's look at the beauties we know as shoes.

Stay gold.

Cardi Decisions: Wedding Style

Tuesday, October 22, 2013

FRIENDS, FAMILY, THOSE IN THE RANGE OF MY VOICE...or blog. Or whatever. I need YOUR help!

So I know this ultimately MY decision, but I have found 3 cardigans that I LOVE for putting over my dress, seeing as I'm getting married in December. I know that I will like anyone that I choose. It would be totally cool if you could voice your opinions or send me links to other cardigans in the comments below. I CHOOSE YOU! Here we go.

{Kate Spade Saturday // Wrap-it-up Sweater} I originally wanted a wrap cropped cardigan from Anthropologie, but I found out it was from 3 years ago...so I had to look for alternatives and Kate Spade did the trick. So lovely and clean and white. Embellished with a necklace or brooch. So good.
{Anthropologie // Ardennes Cardigan} This cardigan is ALMOST perfect. The sleeves aren't long enough and the buttons don't go all the way down. It's not too crucial, because this is beautiful.
{Anthropologie // Ruffle Coda Cardigan} A refreshing pop of color with a form flattering ruffle. Oh dear..which one do I choose?

So yes, please comment with your favorite. I don't know which one I'll choose yet, because I love each one...but I still want to know what you have to say. Thanks for being the best readers in the world. Stay gold.

Wedding Wednesday!

Wednesday, October 2, 2013

Don't you mean wishlist wednesday? Well yeah! But hey, for the 4 billionth time, I'm getting married so I figured...hey...why not make wishlist wedding wednesday posts. But then I thought...wait what if someone takes your idea and gets married before you do? But then I thought again...hey imitation is the best form of flattery so why the heck not!? Let's go for it!

First things first, Tyler reads this blog so I figured to stay traditional...I won't be talking about the wedding dress, but that doesn't mean I can't talk about SHOES and ACCESSORIES! So that's what I'm going to feature today. I haven't bought these things yet, but the following are an idea of what I want to wear on my wedding day and to the reception. Enjoy! And feel free to share your thoughts and comments.

The Shoes

To preface these are our colors..
The Red/Scarlet and mint are meant to be accent colors and I just felt like it was the perfect mix of nautical, classic, and modern. Tyler said he LOVED it the first time he saw it so I think it was a perfect fit. Plus, his shirt colors consist of blue and red so it fits his personality ever so nicely.

Anyway, weren't we talking about shoes? Yes! So as an avid Cup of Jo follower, I have heard Joanna rave about Jeffery Campbell's 'Regina' Wedge and how comfortable and absolutely adorable they are...which I completely agree on the adorable part. We'll see about comfort. They are just my style. And so while I was browsing for wedding shoes these came to my mind first and...

THEY COME IN MINT GREEN!

Behold...

1 // Oh my the dreamiest! And the price isn't bad at all. I have heard of girls getting $500-$1,000 Jimmy Choos. Be still my heart.

The Baubles and Arm Party

Around the neck...

2 // Confession: I am a sucker for the ampersand symbol. Just think about it Dani & Tyler. *swoon*
3 // "I do"
4 // Mrs. Abbott? I think yes. Cheesy? I think yes, also.

 A stack of gold...

I really want to have an arm party because I have seen them all over the wedding sights these days and I think it would just be lovely over the and under the cardigan I'll be wearing. What do you think?
5 // This little beauty has been on my wishlist forever. It's the actual J.Crew collection version NOT the factory version, but the factory version would suit me just fine if it just fit my wrist. That price though...oh no. Sigh. Looking dupes!
6 // Cue the confetti! Cut the cake! Because happily ever after starts NOW!
7 // THIS.
8 // Oh come on Kate Spade! This is adorable.
9 // A ring to match? Yes, please!

Do you have any dreamy wedding ideas? What did you wear on your wedding day as shoes and accessories? Comment below...and like always....

Stay gold.

This is getting crazy...

Friday, April 5, 2013

Really though, another Friday? All I can say is that I'm incredibly grateful. Oh and not to mention that it's General Conference weekend, bring on the cinnamon rolls, tears, and enlightenment. Bring. It. On. Elder Holland I am ready for you! (P.S. I will say President Uchtdorf and Elder Scott are my favorite speakers, well I like them all, but sometimes Elder Holland scares me. Just sayin' He's just so powerful.)

Favorite #1: I GOT THE JOB! I don't think I ever mentioned that I was applying for a Peer Mentor position here on campus, and if I did I was probably talking about all of the other jobs I was applying for, but this one was at the top of my list and I got it! Oh words cannot describe how grateful I am for this opportunity! I cannot wait to mentor young freshman. I can't wait to be surrounded by the kindest of people. I cannot wait to work hard, to grow, to change, and to see my students grow and change. I am so incredibly grateful for this tremendous opportunity. I won't let you down! I won't!

Favorite #2: Bean and Cheese Burritos
I know, I know, probably not the healthiest thing but I seriously love those things. I was at Winco the other day and I wanted to buy one frozen meal and I chose those and I'm sure glad I did, because I was starving yesterday and needed grub and those were the easiest things to whip up. I mean you put it in the microwave for 2 minutes. Add a thick slice of colby jack and salsa and call it dinner for a college student minus the ramen.

Favorite #3: 100 Rules of Dinner
(Yeah, I just posted this after talking to you about my bean and cheese burritos. Not ashamed.)

Favorite #4: Life of Pi
I watched it with a friend yesterday and I was mesmerized by the outstanding beauty.

Favorite #5: Raspberry and Blueberry Granola and yogurt.
Breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, snack of Zeus. I am a sucker for that combo.

Favorite #6: #mightlove
#mightylove
#mightylove
Pretty much the best internet spamming ever.

Favorite #7: This tree.
Who could not be in love with those blossoms?

Favorite #8: The fact that Everlane has belts now.

Favorite #9: My birthday is in 8 days! AH! 20 years old can you believe it?

Favorite #10: This pretty bauble for the wrist.

Favorite #11: Pointed-toe flats for the win.
And if these sandals aren't the cutest, I don't know what cute is anymore.

Favorite #12: The fact that Talor is on Instagram. I die. Beware Miss Cunningham, I am coming for your photos...expect a #mightlove gram soooooon.

So what have been your favorites of the week? What are you cooking up for dinner tonight? Any suggestions? Anything you'd like to say? If so, comment below. Stay gold.

AND

Have a very happy and very safe weekend.

I am becoming a shoe addict..

Wednesday, February 20, 2013

*DISCLAIMER*All of these shoes are incredibly pricey. I'm on a clothing fast so I naturally am wanting all the expensive things at the moment. If that makes you queasy, you don't even have to read this post. I won't be offended! That's all.

Yes, it's true. I love clothes, you know, pants, shirts, coats, yadda yadda. But there is something about shoes. Shoes with studs, high heels, glitter, floral prints, leather. I love them all and I would buy pair after pair if that wasn't wrong in some way. I think when April rolls around I'll be asking for shoes on my day of birth. That sounds like a grand idea.

1
I got my first pair of loafers from Target in the cute leopard print. I think I have worn those to death. Of course, I still wear them, but they need a companion. Someone to carry the burden that is my feet. I love Target for their loafers, but who could resist neon pink leather loafers from J.Crew? That's right. No one.

2
Favorite shoe that J.Crew makes? The Etta Pump. I am drooling over the glitter heel. And are those hummingbirds? Yes.

3
Of course Kate Spade makes the cutest flats known to man! I am a total sucker for glitter (obviously) and stripes. Plus there is a bow. Kate Spade, never stop being cute.

4
These vans are out of the loop with the style of the shoes above, but these are the shoes I want more than anything right now. I love Vans. I am impressed with their quality and I like the style. I always get jealous of guys and their great leather shoes. Thank goodness Vans came out with a style for the ladies. I'll take a size 8 please! Happy birthday to me?!

What shoes are you in the market for right now? What is your favorite style to wear? Do you consider yourself a shoe addict? Comment below. Happy wishing!

Stay golden. Or gold. Whatever.

Another fast...

Wednesday, February 13, 2013

Last night, I made a trip to Target. I really think I have to start preparing myself more for trips to Target. You need to be wide awake, in a pleasant mood, and you have to have a specific list for everything that you need...or you will end up like I did last night. Craving a Prabal Gurung blouse and with too much toilet paper and febreze air fresheners. (those things are my weakness...along with Target designer collaborations...and the home decor section.) Alright, everything about Target has "Dani's Weakness" written all over it. So...believe it or not, I gave in and WENT BACK to get the Prabal Gurung blouse. I know...I know...why would I do such a thing? Well my mama taught me that if it's not going to be there 2 weeks or 2 days later you just have to give in. So I forked over $20...and did it. I even have a picture for you...

It really was too beautiful to pass up. Prabal Gurung, you do make woman feel beautiful.
This is me AFTER the Target spree.

Target Selfie. Aw yeah. What a beauty!
Well this trip to target gave me a bug to shop for all the things. I spent way too much money at Target yesterday, I need a job, and I need to stop wanting ALL the things, therefore; I am starting a TWO MONTH SHOPPING FAST! AH! Can I do it? Yes. Will I do it. Yes. I did it for January it was very refreshing. Plus, my birthday is in April so it will be worth the wait.

Since I'm on this fast, it's only appropriate to show you the way too expensive, way too over budget wishlist that I concoct during these times. Today, I am featuring Kate Spade watches, because I can't get enough of Kate Spade and her watches. Be ready for expensive things that we can only wish to own one day. P.S. if there is someone that really loves me and wants to give me the perfect gift for Vamlumtimes (Teen Girl Squad anyone?) Day...the following will do the trick. Or you could give me a letter from the Valley Boy. That would be nice too.

Layers are fun...my titles are so original these days.

Thursday, January 17, 2013

I have lived in Utah for most of my life. I know how the Winters are, but this Winter is something that has almost become unbearable. I dread going outside because my boogers freeze every time I breathe in, and it's like someone made a law not to shovel sidewalks but just to salt them with buckets of salt...so everyone is slipping around and it's like you have to trek over icy/salty mountains. Okay I exaggerate, but seriously, whatever happened to people shoveling?

So today I thought I would do a post on what I like for layering in this weather. Layering is almost essential for me. I need a lot, but then I also need to be able to take stuff off for the overheated classrooms, and that tends to happen a lot. Let's start with the basics.

1. Socks...cute ones preferably.
Ones that go to your knees and others that are crew. All are warm. All are good.
I like knee socks because they add an extra layer of warmth for your legs. Here are some cute crew socks that I swear by for winter.

1 // 2 // 3

American Eagle also has amazing knee socks.

2. Tights and Leggings
To wear under skirts (wool or some other bottom weight fabric). Or to wear under your favorite pair of jeans or pants.

I am obsessed with sparkle tights. I have some from American Eagle, but they don't sell them anymore. It's a shame because they were a way better price than these

2
You can layer your socks over your leggings and call it a warm and fuzzy day. For realz.

3. Button Up Shirts
Perfect tucked into jeans, skirts, and worn under sweaters and cardis.

 1 // 2 // 3 // 4

4. Sweaters/Cardigans
To pair with a button up. To put over a dress or skirt. To wear with a pair of jeans. To wear under a winter coat.

1 // 2 // 3 // 4

5. Long Sleeved Tee's
Gap is my favorite place for simple and sweet layering T's. Look at all the stripes and colors. They are SO soft too. If you don't believe me, go buy one and see for yourself.

I am a fan of DownEast Basics too.

If you want a little bit of luxury, Everlane is the place for you. ( If anyone is wondering what they can get me for my birthday in April...check out the whole website.)

And lastly, I own 4 of these Target shirts. They are pretty solid.

6. Boots/Hats/Scarves/Mittens/Gloves
You can't go wrong layering with any of these accessories.

Boots for the adventurer.

Boots for the girl who can't resist Sperry's OR J.Crew.

And for the girl who has always wanted a pair of Hunter Wellies.
I'll take mine in black and merlot please!

A hat with a Pom Pom is always a good choice.

1

Also, for those who like the laid back skater look.

2
Thick scarves are perfect for windy days.

Mittens make you feel like a kid again.
1
These are cute too. And if you don't like those, you won't be able to resist this pair.
And if you are looking for absolutely guaranteed warmth, look no further, Kyber Outerwear has what you need. Trust me.

And for the techies... try the latest trend, touch tech gloves.
