What you should be buying // candles

Sunday, October 12, 2014

Let's talk about candles for a second.

When I was dating Tyler I often dragged him to Bath and Body Works (though I think sooner than later he started going willingly; he won't deny it) just to sniff out all of the candles. Sometimes I'd strike gold on a good "2 for $20" sale. That's how cheap they were back then. TWO FOR 20, people. I would go home with like 4 candles, because that's how lax I was with my budget back then. But Tyler wouldn't really care, because he loved candles and when we got engaged he finally said:

"I'll be honest, you buying candles was one of the many reasons why I wanted to marry you, because I know that you are going to keep our house cozy with all those good scents and stuff."

He's a dreamboat, right? Yeah. So the candles are a must at our house. Ya gotta keep things cozy. Yesterday, I hit up B&BW and got two candles in their "2 for $22" sale. Two dollars up. Those fiends ;). Just kidding and I had a coupon so Tyler got a free shampoo and body wash. He's all about that life.

So yes, we are gonna talk about all of the fall scents that I think you should be buying at B&BW. I gotta do my outside candle research too because I know that Anthropologie has some gorgeous candles, like Volcano, but I'm looking for the Fall scents, and I have to do my research for the Winter scents, because Tyler specifically said...we have to come back in like a couple of weeks for all of the Christmas ones. Perhaps, I should learn how to make them myself like my precious friend Talor. Who by the way is getting married on Wednesday. Uh. Going to cry. What a love story.

Anyway, candles!

Let's do this.

1 // Sandalwood is one of my favorite scents. I remember when BB&W first came out with the "this smells like your boyfriend's flannel" scents, and I was so against them. Then I gave this one a chance. Ooo it's divine and smoky and it smells like a log cabin and cookies.

2 // Cinnamon and Clove Buds. Straigh up Christmastime, and it's never too early for Christmastime. Warning if you don't like strong cinnamon scents, this one is OBVIOUSLY not for you.

3 // So maybe this isn't a designated "fall" scent, but it's the most relaxing, "I want to cuddle up into a blanket and sleep" scents ever. It's subtle but burns like a....nevermind.

4 // Same with Eucalyptus mint. Want to relieve stress? Burn this baby.

 BRING ON THE PUMPKIN!

5 // This one smells like Starbucks and the PSL aka Pumpkin Spice Latte. Like it's all I can think of when I burn it. Oo it's tasty.

6 // Tyler LOVES this one. Unfortunately, I didn't buy it because if you burn pumpkin caramel latte and banana nut pudding together it smells exactly like this one. If anything smells like waffles, Tyler will be all over it.

7 // Marshamallow fireside. I can't even. That's all. I seriously can't even. Just think of girls camp and let the nostalgia sent in.

8 // Sweater Weather was sold out at my nearest BB&W, but they had this BOMB and I mean bomb 3-layered candle with Sweater Weather on top, Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin in the middle, and Pumpkin Apple. It's a dream come true. The dreamiest of dreams coming true. I can't stop burning it. In fact, it's burning in my living room as we speak.

9 // Speaking of your boyfriends flannel.

10 // Something about pumpkin cinnamon baked goods that speak to my fall-y soul.

11 // GUYS. This is my favorite fall scent ever. I mean ever. It's my favorite. I got a wallflower of this scent for free and I am OBSESSED. But so is everyone else, because it's sold out everywhere. You can only buy the mason jar and mini candle. Ain't nobody got time for that. Just kidding, I might just stock up because I could smell this scent ALL year round.

12 // One of my other favorites. Only I can only burn it for like 10 minutes. It's strong. But like I said before, burn it with pumpkin caramel latte and you've got a coffee shop and pecan waffles waiting to happen.

13 // Because you can't go wrong with vanilla chai.

14 // Shout out to my girl Sierra Carter and her luscious candle that I can't stop wanting. I don't know why I don't buy it already. It's not really a fall scent either but it rocks. It just does. There is something about the sandalwood part that reminds me of changing leaves and chilly hikes.

15 // Pumpkin apple is sold out everywhere, but thank goodness for my 3-layered candle. That thing is my bae. EW why did I just use that word? Pumpkin apple is fall in a candle. It just is.

16 // Leaves is burning in our bedroom right now. Guys. It's probably my second favorite candle ever to be made my BB&W. It's up there with all the best candles in the world.

17 // Lastly, Fireside. This candle is a more like scout camp with a bunch of hunks.

In other words. Run, don't walk to BB&W. Two for $22. That's all you need.

Wishlist Wednesday: Pinspiration

Thursday, August 30, 2012

*This was posted on a Thursday, I am fully aware. Two posts in one day? Awww yeah baby.*

I'm going to make another excuse, and you are going to forgive me. I don't have any specific wishlist items for you today. I am going to share some pinspiration. I figured that if I ever am stumped with my wishlists or favorites posts, just go to pinterest. You will find the inspiration you need, thus creating pinspiration posts. So thank you Pinterest, and thank you readers for sticking with me through my busy college experience. I will get back into the groove of things, just you wait and see.

Really, there is nothing I love more than slouchy sweaters and stripes. This has the perfect combination of both.

I love layering in the fall. I cannot wait to just layer, layer, and layer some more. Now where can I find a cool leather jacket and blazer?

This has nothing to do with fashion but I really want a cup of galaxy. I am going to invent a delicious beverage called Cup of Galaxy. Look how beautiful that is. This is my desktop background right now. I love it.

Lately, I have really wanted more cool graphic tees. The slouchy kind. For those tom boy, street style days.

AH. Such simple yet oh so perfect styling. Look at those shoes! Outfits like these make me want to invest in every single black t shirt and high waisted pair of trousers. Also, the belt is fantastic. I need one of those. You can never have too many brown/cognac belts.

Totally Kate Moss inspired. Mm...I just love it all. Click the link and drool over the other outfits.

You can find this picture under "GLAM" in the dictionary. Dear lovely lady in this picture, could you be my personal stylist?

The only problem with Fall/Winter fashion is that I want every coat and sweater I see. This Duffle Coat is the best thing I have ever seen. Oh and it's also over 500 dollars. Yay.

I will always be a strong supporter of color blocking. A pop of color is always in fashion. Really though. Don't be a afraid to do it. Click here for more drooling. Feast your eyes upon beautiful outfits.

Wishlist Wednesday: More Like Wimpy Wishlist Wednesday

Wednesday, August 22, 2012

This post is wimpy. Wimpy I say. The wimpiest wishlist I have ever made. Why is it so wimpy? Well, I go to college. Not saying that every post is going to be wimpy from now on, I'm just settling into my new place and I haven't exactly had the time to "ooh and ahh" over clothes. So here's to wimpy wishin'. Enjoy!

River Island
I know the mustache trend is old and many might find it kitschy, but I think this simple watch puts a cute spin on the whole mustache dealio. So subtle yet somewhat refined. I think so anyway.

TOMS // Nordstroms

I already included these in a post. This just shows how much I want these shoes. One day I will own these beautiful things. One day. *Tip* If you don't want to pay for shipping, buy your TOMS at Nordstrom.

Wildfox // Shopbop
"I'm really a mermaid." How adorable is that? How cool is that? Oh my goodness gracious. Want.

My pinspiration for the week. I really want some acid wash jeans. I especially want the ones in the picture.

Any wishlist items you'd like to share with me? What have you been inspired by recently?  I always like to hear from you.

Happy wimpy wishing!

Friday Favorites: Lunch Dates, Food, and Riches for Rags

Friday, August 17, 2012

If you follow my tumblr, you would probably already know what my favorites are for this fine week. I am going basically repeat that post and add a few new things. Heck, I'm lazy this Friday.

Favorite #1: My lunch date. Nothing’s better than eating at a drive-in with a boy who’s been working outside all day, who smells like grass and dirt, and most importantly who makes you laugh.

Favorite #2: Riches for Rags. If you follow me on Pinterest, you probably logged on the other night and saw probably 100 outfit pins. I have Riches for Rags to thank for those. It is my kind of tumblr. Every post is impeccably styled. I love it. There is such an eclectic mix. Check it out!

Favorite #3:  Leopard Loafers
Mossimo Black® Vianca Tuxedo Flat - Assorted Colors.Opens in a new window
Target

Steve Madden came out with the Leopard Loafers that everyone just HAD to have. I was one of those people who HAD to have them, but unfortunately never got the chance to get them. Thank goodness Mossimo came out with a very inexpensive alternative. The quality is pretty great too! They aren't EXACTLY the same, but they do their job. I love mixing other prints with leopard.

Favorite #4: Another shoe favorite...Vans in Blue Bell/ True White
Vans // 1, 2
I have now been converted to Vans.  Judge me! I can't turn into a "Shoe" person. Nothing wrong with them, it's just that I love all the expensive ones.

Favorite #5: The Dark Knight Rises.
I saw it again with my sister and brother. It was WAY better the second time. I understood the plot a lot better, and I actually almost started to cry. If a movie makes me cry, it's a good one, but really that's not saying much. I can find a reason to cry in just about EVERY movie.

Favorite #6: Little Women with Krystal
After packing up my entire closet, shoes, towels, and bedding, Krystal and I decided to watch Little Women. We were so worn out...we cried for about 15 minutes of it. Beth's death scene kills me every time. We were sobbing. I'm not even kidding. I love that movie so much. Christian Bale twice in a week? Ahhh yeah.

Favorite #7: Speaking of packing...PACKING
I am surprised that I have enjoyed packing so much. I was really upset that I had to, but I got SO much organizing and de-junking done. It also helped that Krystal and I were dancing and singing while doing so.

Favorite #8: SHRIMP BASKETS FROM KIRT'S
I wrote that in all caps, because they are JUST that good.

Favorite #9: Winco Gummy Bears
So colorful! I want to eat them all!

Favorite #10: Bon Iver and Fleet Foxes with Rainymood
Anything with Rainymood really, but mostly Bon Iver and Fleet Foxes.

Favorite #11: Pizza...favorite food. Really though. Pizza.

Favorite #12:  Astronaut Cat
NO WEEK IS COMPLETE WITHOUT AN ASTRONAUT CAT!

Happy Friday everyone! Maybe even possibly Happy Weekend! Stay safe. Stay happy. Stay lovely. Stay Golden.
