Friday Favorites: Lunch Dates, Food, and Riches for Rags

Friday, August 17, 2012

If you follow my tumblr, you would probably already know what my favorites are for this fine week. I am going basically repeat that post and add a few new things. Heck, I'm lazy this Friday.

Favorite #1: My lunch date. Nothing’s better than eating at a drive-in with a boy who’s been working outside all day, who smells like grass and dirt, and most importantly who makes you laugh.

Favorite #2: Riches for Rags. If you follow me on Pinterest, you probably logged on the other night and saw probably 100 outfit pins. I have Riches for Rags to thank for those. It is my kind of tumblr. Every post is impeccably styled. I love it. There is such an eclectic mix. Check it out!

Favorite #3:  Leopard Loafers
Mossimo Black® Vianca Tuxedo Flat - Assorted Colors.Opens in a new window
Target

Steve Madden came out with the Leopard Loafers that everyone just HAD to have. I was one of those people who HAD to have them, but unfortunately never got the chance to get them. Thank goodness Mossimo came out with a very inexpensive alternative. The quality is pretty great too! They aren't EXACTLY the same, but they do their job. I love mixing other prints with leopard.

Favorite #4: Another shoe favorite...Vans in Blue Bell/ True White
Vans // 1, 2
I have now been converted to Vans.  Judge me! I can't turn into a "Shoe" person. Nothing wrong with them, it's just that I love all the expensive ones.

Favorite #5: The Dark Knight Rises.
I saw it again with my sister and brother. It was WAY better the second time. I understood the plot a lot better, and I actually almost started to cry. If a movie makes me cry, it's a good one, but really that's not saying much. I can find a reason to cry in just about EVERY movie.

Favorite #6: Little Women with Krystal
After packing up my entire closet, shoes, towels, and bedding, Krystal and I decided to watch Little Women. We were so worn out...we cried for about 15 minutes of it. Beth's death scene kills me every time. We were sobbing. I'm not even kidding. I love that movie so much. Christian Bale twice in a week? Ahhh yeah.

Favorite #7: Speaking of packing...PACKING
I am surprised that I have enjoyed packing so much. I was really upset that I had to, but I got SO much organizing and de-junking done. It also helped that Krystal and I were dancing and singing while doing so.

Favorite #8: SHRIMP BASKETS FROM KIRT'S
I wrote that in all caps, because they are JUST that good.

Favorite #9: Winco Gummy Bears
So colorful! I want to eat them all!

Favorite #10: Bon Iver and Fleet Foxes with Rainymood
Anything with Rainymood really, but mostly Bon Iver and Fleet Foxes.

Favorite #11: Pizza...favorite food. Really though. Pizza.

Favorite #12:  Astronaut Cat
NO WEEK IS COMPLETE WITHOUT AN ASTRONAUT CAT!

Happy Friday everyone! Maybe even possibly Happy Weekend! Stay safe. Stay happy. Stay lovely. Stay Golden.

Happiness Is...being a dreamer

Tuesday, July 10, 2012

Today has definitely been a terrific one. A tiring one, but yes a terrific one. I finally got Valley Boy's birthday present put together, the only thing I'm missing is candy. What kind of candy do guys like? Really I'm being serious, I haven't had to get a birthday present for a boy in a long time. Help. Thank you!

Alright, so today I want to talk about being a dreamer and doing what you have always wanted to do. I will be brief and I will use as many cliches as I want to. Dream people. Just do it. Really. If you want to do something go do it. Live your dream. Go travel the world. Do everything you can to do it. That will probably require a lot of money. Which will require work. BUT hey, we should be willing to work for our dreams. That's what makes living the dream so worth it. If you want a purpose go make one for yourself. Your purpose can be bringing a smile to the world, helping dogs at a shelter, greeting people at walmart, smiling at a random person, teaching someone how to sew. Everyone has a purpose and if you don't think you have one....I promise you...you do. Always be willing to learn, dreams require learning and a lot of patience. Go on an adventure. Live a little. No don't go all YOLO on me...I mean do something fun. Eat something fattening. Tell someone you like them. Collect ceramic unicorns. Bake cupcakes. Be a concert pianist. Live on an island surrounded by enormous piles of money. Go look at the floating lanterns. Use your 20 twenty seconds of courage. Sometimes you will be left discouraged. Sometimes you'll think, how is this making me happy? I promise you though, if you never give up and keep believing you will be happy. Dreams are supposed to make you happy. I think so anyway. Live. Your. Dream. Dreams. I am a dreamer and I always want to be this way.  That's all.

Friday Favorites: Nutella and Toast

Friday, June 15, 2012

It's Friday again! I love Fridays. I think I appreciate them WAY more when I'm at school, but they are pretty great here at home too. Fridays mean the weekend and a break from the stress from the week. Fridays mean a Favorites post on my blog. Also, since today is Friday that means tomorrow is Saturday, and tomorrow marks the 2 weeks until I leave for Washington DC. Oh man I can't wait. I might just make a post about it tomorrow. We'll see. I have a lot of Favorites this week so I'll stop blabbing on and get to it.

1. Music Discoveries/Spotify
I don't know what it was but this week I was introduced to probably some of the best music I have ever heard. I even started a playlist on Youtube to save some of these great songs I have found. Youtube is awesome because you can click on one song and then it will lead you to a bunch of other ones that start to grow on you. Then, you can add other songs that you love and it is just so great. The playlist is really small right now and I'm not completely satisfied with all of the songs, but I can't wait for it to grow some more. Discovering new music is the best. If you have music that you want to share with me please comment below or send a link to the video so I can add it to "Infinities". Yeah that's my cheesy name for the playlist. I also have an "Infinities" playlist on Spotify that I love. I just started putting loads of songs on it, and I was reading The Perks of Being a Wallflower and then Infinities just stuck. Did I just make any sense? So if you have a Spotify you should check that playlist of mine out. Spotify has really helped me feed my music addiction, especially since music costs money which I don't have and I want so much music right now. Also, one last thing my last Playlist Thursday post has basically my favorite songs of the week, so you should check that out if you haven't yet. Okay now I'm going to stop telling you what to do and get to the rest of this.

2. Granola/ Nutella and Toast
My mom buys this absolutely tasty Cinnamon Raisin Granola that is the best with soy milk.
Breakfast of Champions

3.  Goals!
This week I decided I wanted to live a healthier lifestyle. This might be difficult because of my love for food and my computer, but I have a feeling it really is going to make a difference in my life. It really deserves a post on its own, but I made some goals, wrote them downs, taped them on my wall, and now I am trying to fulfill them. I will write a post about it later. Stay tuned.

4. Family
I really think I mention my family in every single one of my Friday Favorites posts but really...I LOVE MY FAMILY. Every week I just come to love them more and more and more. Oh man that's a lot of love people. Whether it's being crazy with my sister, or taking awkward pictures at Laguna Beach with my two brothers...I can't help but love them all so much. Thank you parents for creating me and my siblings. That was awesome of you.
5.  Reuniting with Friends
This week I got to see two friends from high school. One I am extremely close with. She is my best friend. The other, we have had a lot of rough patches and things didn't end the best between us after high school. It was an interesting feeling. With one friend the talk was easy and we laughed about everything. We ate ice cream (our favorite) and Wendy's fries (our other favorite). We sat out on a Pocahontas blanket and looked at the stars while we talked about life and memories. It was so wonderful. Then, with this other friend there were awkward silences and I desperately was trying to keep my emotions leveled. It's hard when someone has caused grief in your life. Sometimes you just want to scream at them and tell them everything you feel about them and how hurt you are. The thing is...the night with that friend wasn't entirely bad. It was a little awkward at first but by the end of the night we were laughing and talking like old friends again. Still, there was a void when this friend dropped me off at my house. There was still a distance that I don' think can ever be fixed. We talked about personal and very thought provoking things, but I didn't feel the connection that I felt with my best friend just days before. Isn't it interesting how relationships and friendships work? Life is one big social network. It's complicated sometimes and other times it's just how you want it to be.

6. Pinterest
Oh gee, this should be a favorite every week. Seriously though. Here is the pin that inspired a lot of what I wore this week.  I love the button down tucked into the colored jeans. I wore my mint and coral jeans with just about everything this week. If I could find you a link to mint jeans I would...but I am not going to post a link to jeans that I don't really think are worth the price. What has been your closet inspiration this week? Comment below!
American Eagle
7.  Tumblr
Mini tumbloglovin'
I love these tumblogs and you should check them out. They have inspired me all week.
-A Well Traveled Woman
-Bippity Boppity Boo
-Bistro Petit
-Better Than Fine
-The Little Things I Love
-Modern Hepburn
-LOVE. LOVE. LOVE.

Well those are all of my favorites for the week. Sorry if everything was a little scattered. I will try to be a bit more organized next time. Make sure to comment below with your favorites below. Have a great Friday and start to the weekend everybody. Stay cool and stay golden.

P.S. I cannot BELIEVE that I forgot this favorite. Oh my goodness.
Just click the link and enjoy the deliciousness. One of the many reasons why I want to travel. The food.

Thursday Playlist: A mix of everything and a little love

Thursday, May 31, 2012

Hey ya'll ( I lived with two Texans for eight months, they grew on me)

I forgot to mention two of my favorite tumblrs yesterday! First, my sweet friend Erin has such a cute tumblr. It's just full of love and is for the hopeless romantic. I just love little lost olive. Next, my friend Talor is one of the funniest and and coolest people ever. EVER. I wish I got to know her more in high school, because honestly I really do think we could get along so well. We share the same views on things...it's awesome. I just can't say how cool she is. I also love her tumblr name talorlynn-awakemysoul. AH Mumford and Sons so great. Please check out their tumblrs and follow them. they are SO awesome. Get to it and I'll get to my playlist.

1. Titanium by David Guetta feat. Sia

I am proud to say that I liked Sia before she was cool. This song is like my confidence, pick me up, I can do anything song. I love it so much and Sia's voice is just great. David Guetta puts in some good beats too. Listen here. Please excuse the somewhat strange music video. I think it's a little strange. Cool but strange.

2. Take Care by Drake feat. Rihanna

Um...yeah I don't know how I came to like this one so much. I don't even like Rihanna. I like Drake though so yeah. I mean I guess it is a hit or miss for people, but I really like it. I'll take care of you. Here's the deal, apparently it's explicit...I um don't ever hear anything explicit in the lyrics when I listen to it though. But just in case I'm not going to link it for you, because what if you hear what I don't? I don't want you blaming me for your guilt. Haha.

3. Giving Me a Chance by Gotye

Love. Love. Love. Love. That's all I have to say. Just listen.

4. Beth/Rest by Bon Iver

It is my FAVORITE song by him. Listen to it with Rainymood and just sit back and take it all in. It makes me cry every time I listen. Without fail. I must have some memory that is linked with it. It just...I don't even know if I can subscribe or say how much I love this song. If you don't like it that's okay. I forgive you.

5. Houdini by Foster the People

Man, I wish more people liked Foster the People's other songs. They are so catchy. I really love the music video to this song, and the little dance that they do. I was hoping they would have some cute dance to go with this song. It makes me wanna dance myself. So groovy.

6. Now I have five songs by The Fray for you. They are all from their newest album Scars & Stories.

-Be Still
-Rainy Zurich
-Munich
-I Can Barely Say
-Heartbreak

My favorite out of the five is Be Still. It is extremely comforting and beautiful.

7.  Never Let Me Go by Florence + the Machine

She is a favorite. I love her music. This song is just SO good. Sorry I'm not good at describing songs. That's why you have to listen to it yourself! I can never find a good video for it on youtube. I suggest listening to it on Spotify, Last FM, you get the gist of it right?

8. Payphone by Maroon 5 feat. Wiz Khalifa

If you don't like swearing...LISTEN TO THE CLEAN VERSION. Trust me.

9.  What If by Jason Derulo

Sappy love song. YAY! Cheesy music video. YAY! Jason Derulo. YAY! Nay?

10. Slow Dancing in a Burning Room by John Mayer

I seriously think I mention this song every minute of every day. I apologize for the one swear it has in it.  The guitar, his voice, the lyrics, the sound. It's all perfect. He performs it live and it brings you chills. I also love this video. I love dancers and dancing. I wish I was talented in that area. Holy cow this makes you cry. Watch and love. It makes me love the song even more.

That's all for today. Listen up and hopefully you find something you like. Comment below with your favorite songs of the moment. Peace!
